? Farina Fourth of July Celebration includes food vendors and beer garden at noon; parade registration at 2 p.m. and parade at 3 p.m.; SIETC Rebels at 3:45 p.m.; inflatables, pony rides, kids' games and bingo at 4 p.m.; American Legion Post 411 opening-national anthem and cake walk at 5 p.m.; Ivas John Band at 5:15 p.m.; Ben Nation Band at 7 p.m.; raffle drawing at 9:15 p.m.; J&M Displays fireworks at 9:30 p.m.; and Ben Nation Band at 10 p.m.
Friday, July 5
? The Shoal Creek Chapter of ABATE is holding a Veterans' Ride. Registration is from 10-11 a.m., and kickstands are up at 11 a.m. It is a ride of about 90 miles, with stops at various VFW's and American Legions. The final stop is in Panama. The cost is $6 per hand and $2 for each additional hand, with high hand, low hand and 50/50 winners at the end. The proceeds go to a local veteran.
? The Vandalia Lions Club is sponsoring a free mobile hearing unit from 1-5 p.m. at Walmart in Vandalia. The test takes about 10 minutes to complete, with results available immediately.
? Summer Lunches for Kids is from 11-11:30 a.m. in Vandalia at Rogier Park, Kelley Park, Fayette County Health Department and Family YMCA; in Shobonier at the village hall; and in Vera at the township building.
? Bingo at the American Legion Home in Vandalia at 7 p.m.
? A Nar-Anon meeting will be held at 7 p.m. at Northside Christian Church, 1845 W. Jackson St., Vandalia
Saturday, July 6
? Evans Public Library in Vandalia is holding a Sea Story Saturday at 1 p.m. Children of all ages are invited to listen to stories and make a craft.
? The Vandalia Lions Club's annual Fourth of July fireworks display at Vandalia Lake is at dusk.
Sunday, July 7
? First Prebyterian Church in Vandalia will celebrate its 191st birthday at the 9 a.m. worship service and ice cream afterward. The church is located at 1221 W. Fillmore St., and the public is invited to attend. The church was established on July 5, 1828, in what is now the Fayette County Museum.
? The Fayette County Fair gets under way. Fayette County 4-H judging is at noon, 1 p.m. and 4 p.m., and the Fayette County Farm Bureau Young Farmers Young Leaders is at 6:30 p.m. The Jr. Miss and Future Miss Fayette County pageants are at 7 p.m. A new carnival is open from 6-10 p.m, Sunday-Friday.; admission is $5 for adults and ages 12 and under are free.
Monday, July 8
? Summer Lunches for Kids is from 11-11:30 a.m. in Vandalia at Rogier Park, Kelley Park, Fayette County Health Department and Family YMCA; in Shobonier at the village hall; and in Vera at the township building.
? Friends & Families of Fayette County Hospital will hold its annual meeting at noon in the hospital Community Room.
? The Vandalia Lions Club meets at Ponderosa Steakhouse. The board meeting is at 5:30 p.m., meal at 6 p.m. and club meeting at 6:30 p.m.
? The Fayette County Fair continues with 4-H judging and the Miss Fayette and Little Miss Fayette pageants are at 7 p.m.; admission is $8 for adults, $6 for ages 6-11 and ages 5 and under are free.
Tuesday, July 9
? Summer Lunches for Kids is from 11-11:30 a.m. in Ramsey at Lions Park.
? The Vandalia Rotary Club meets at noon at Ponderosa Steakhouse.
? The Fayette County Fair continues with 4-H judging, the 4-H Livestock Auction at 6 p.m., and truck and tractor pull at 7 p.m.; admission is $10 for adults, $6 for ages 6-11 and ages 5 and under are free. Pit passes are $15.
? The Fayette County Board meets at 7 p.m. in the large courtroom of the Fayette County Courthouse.
? The monthly meeting of the Evans Public Library District Board of Trustees will be held at 7:30 p.m. at the library.
Wednesday, July 10
? Judy McNutt will be performing at Charters Patio, Fourth and Gallatin streets, at 6 p.m.
? The Fayette County Fair continues with a truck and tractor pull at 7 p.m.; admission is $10 for adults, $6 for ages 6-11 and ages 5 and under are free. Pit passes are $15.
? Overcup Baptist Church will hold Vacation Bible School from Wednesday through Friday, from 6-8:30 p.m. nightly. A meal is Sunday, July 14, at 5:30 p.m., with the VBS program to follow. All children age 4 through teens are invited to attend.

? The Crawford-Hale American Legion Unit 95 Auxiliary meets at a new time of 6:30 p.m. at the Legion Home.
? The Fayette County Fair continues with Whippooorwill Rodeo at 7 p.m.; admission is $12 for adults, $6 for ages 7-12 and ages 6 and under are free. Pit passes are $15.

? Food trucks will be at Charters Patio from 11-7 p.m. and LS Express, a band with Vandalia native Drew Sheafor, will perform at 7:30 p.m.
? The Fayette County Fair continues with team penning and ranch sorting at 6:30 p.m. and stock car racing promoted by Fayette County Speedway at 7 p.m.; admission is $12 for adults, $5 for ages 7-12 and ages 5 and under are free. Pit passes are $15.
