Brownstown-Sefton News
The Longhorn Cow-girls …
… are enjoying the new spurt of green grass since the recent rains.
Friend Josh brought some new bales of hay to them, so they are being well fed, what with Josh’s good hay and our caring Creator’s contribution of rain and sunshine that makes the pasture grass grow.
Lady, the little mini-mare, might be gaining a little, but she needs to gain a lot.
The Homestead critters are all doing well, although Lady is still appearing thin. Lab work will be the upcoming step to try to get to the root of the problem.

Helping Hands Distribution …
… is Nov. 4 and 6.
Local Holiday Shopping Market …
… is again being offered, this year on Nov. 4. Tammy Barker and her friends are again holding a Holiday Shop store, all under one roof and right here in Brownstown.
Tammy and her friends began this event during one winter when the weather and road conditions were rather hazardous.
They felt the senior citizens would feel safer if they could shop closer to home, without the worry and stress of road conditions, etc.
The first Holiday Shop was well attended by the local folks, and, in addition to helping the local people, they found many came from nearby towns, which was great.
More information about the gifts, etc., offered by Tammy and her friends will follow next week.

Special Request
On the last Sunday of each month, each church is asked to donate some canned goods for the food pantry, as they are badly needed.
Update on New Golden Years Building
A peek into the new building found the ceiling and walls were being put into place, and one could almost smell the savory scent of a Thanksgiving turkey roasting in the oven.
Of course, this is savored with a thankful heart for the blessings already bestowed upon, and those to come to, the Golden Years Club, especially in the form of our friends.
Unfortunately, the “patch” of corn which was growing and producing on the pile of dirt in the yard has been removed. It probably would only have yielded about one or two ears of corn, but it was an interesting sight on the site.
It reminded one of the Indians and their contributions on the first Thanksgiving … and we could have shared the harvest with the raccoons and crows. .
Oh, well, there are still the grocery stores with the canned and/or frozen corn.
Catching Up
Steve Ladd Concert
It has already been two weeks since Steve Ladd, a multi-award-winning Gospel Music Hall of Fame inductee and, most important of all, a sincere Christian who shares his testimony and love of Chris with others through his beautiful, God-given gift of an amazing tenor voice, was here.
Our own, Tammy Carson also shared her wonder contralto voice as she sang a duet with Steve while providing piano accompaniment.
The concert is over, but the memories of beautiful songs linger on.
It was also good to see other friends and musicians there, such as members of the Southern Gospel Homecoming Choir, including Tammy, and Dewayne Brown of the popular FourGiven quarter.
Steve Ladd had new CD’s available, including a simple, but pretty, “Christmas Hymn,” which we played in the car on the way home.
Also available were a new solo CD, “”No Ecuses, No Regrets,” and another one, “Long Run,” which he recorded with the “Old Paths” quartet, on which he sings a solo, “Broken People Like Me.”
The FourGiven also have a brand new CD out, “We Call on Him,” a beautiful collection of their voices blending in songs of praise.
The inspiring and encouraging songs of Steve Ladd and the FourGiven Quartet can be heard on Panzi’s Partyline on Monday mornings.
