    Matthew Wells amassed just 10 yards as a sophomore on the Vandalia Vandals varsity football team … and that was on a running play.

    The Lady Vandals volleyball team placed second in the 25th annual Vandal Tournament on Saturday, winning three games before losing to Carlyle in the title game.

    Vandalia Community High School is celebrating homecoming this week.

    The homecoming parade around the high school campus and athletic fields is at 2:30 p.m. on Friday.
    The homecoming game against Piasa Southwestern starts at 6:30 p.m., with this year’s Hall of Fame inductees being presented at 6:10 p.m.
    This year’s homecoming king and queen will be crowned at halftime of the football game, and the homecoming dance will follow the game in the high school gym.

    The two Vandals who provided the winning cushion on Friday night both had confidence in their abilities.

  • VJHS falls to T-Town, Salem

    Teutopolis scored two runs in the sixth inning and one in the seventh to defeat Vandalia, 5-2, in junior high baseball last Thursday.

  • Altamont edges South Central, 5-4

    Altamont scored a run in the bottom of the seventh inning to break a tie and record a 5-4 win against South Central on Monday.
    South Central led 3-1 after two innings, but Altamont countered with two runs in the third to knot the score.
    Altamont scored once in the fifth inning and the Cougars tied the score in the sixth inning before Altamont scored the winning run in the final frame.
