    1992 – The Vandalia City Council approved a plan to extend Sunset Drive south from Jefferson Street to Randolph Street. The project estimate was $183,000.

    This week's photo: These two good friends joined the miliary in 1954, and both went to Camp Chaffee for basic training. One then went to Germany and the other went to Taiwan. Both worked in communications and both are now retired.

    When the Okaw Area Vocational Center was established half a century ago, The Vandalia Leader ran an editorial in which we touted the value of the center. Their words on the value of vocational education still ring true today; therefore, we are reprinting that July 27, 1967 editorial.
