    First Baptist Church of Vandalia will be hosting Vacation Bible School next Sunday through Tuesday.
    The sessions will run from 6-8:30 p.m. daily at the church, which is located at 223 S. Sixth St.

    Yes, Katy (the black Lab/blue heeler mix puppy) is growing like a weed and at present seems to be all legs.
    She is 16 weeks old this week, is looking good with a shiny coat. She had gained 4 more pounds prior to her doctor’s visit last week, is lively and playful, wags her tail a lot and is scheduled to visit her gynecologist in the not-too-far future for the recommended voluntary surgery and rabies shot. She is up to date an all other procedures, shots and tests.

    Matthew and Tina Benning of St. Peter are the parents of twin daughters, born on Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2012.
    Ella Karyne weighed 5 pounds, 1 ounce, and was 18 inches long, and Kaly Grace weighed 5 pounds, 7 ounces, and was 17 ½ inches long.
    They are welcomed home by their big brother, Marcus, age 3.
    Grandparents are Carl and Karen Benning, Carol Oliver, and Gary and Beth Emerick.
