    The Vandalia soccer team got 26 saves from Colin Ledbetter in losses to Litchfield (13-0) on Monday and to Hillsboro (6-1) on Tuesday. Jussi Craycroft scored against the Hilltoppers.

  • Old Capitol Classic starts next Tuesday

    The Jr. High girls basketball season kicks off at the beginning of next week with the Old Capitol Classic.

    Games in the annual tournament will begin at 5:30 p.m. next Tuesday at the Vandalia junior high and elementary schools.

    Local teams in the tournament include Vandalia, Brownstown and Mulberry Grove.

  • YMCA hosting Parents' Night Out on Friday night

    The Family YMCA of Fayette County is hosting Parents' Night Out on Friday.

    The fun-filled evening for kids ages 5-12 offers parents a night to themselves and a night of fun for their children.

    There will be an open gym, games, face-painting, movies and a concession stand at the event, which begins at 5:30 p.m. and ends at 10:30 p.m.

    Registration opens at 5:15 p.m. and the cost is $10 per child, and $5 for any siblings.

    The VYO football teams took to Mark Greer Field on Saturday against Roxana.   

    This Saturday, the Jr. Vandals travel to Pana. Action from two weeks ago at East Alton-Wood River was canceled due to rain.

  • Vandals win at Staunton

    STAUNTON - The Vandals got three touchdowns and more than 150 yards from Ryan Ambuehl during a 36-21 win at Staunton on Saturday night.

    Vandalia's victory comes as a boost after the team was defeated by Carlinville last Friday, as the Vandals (2-1) now have a string of winnable games, with the next big challenge not until week 9 against Greenville, which lost to Carlinville 59-14 on Saturday.

    Luke Smith and Tim Ritchey also scored for the Vandals to help drop Staunton to 2-1 on the season.

  • Vandalia Football game postponed until Saturday.

    STAUNTON-Vandalia's football game at Staunton was canceled at about 7:00pm on Friday night and rescheduled for Saturday at 7:00pm. The game was called off due to heavy rains.
