    Visits Grandparents
    Two-year-old Henry Harpster of Jackson, Mo., spent Friday night with his grandparents, Dane and Belinda Harpster of St. Peter.
    His parents picked him up on Saturday after attending the Cardinals game on Friday night.
    Blood Drive
    The PTL of St. Peter’s Lutheran School is sponsoring a community blood drive for St. Peter and the surrounding area on Monday, May 14. It will be held in the St. Peter’s Lutheran Gym from 2-6 p.m.

  • Matheny tosses one-hitter for South Central

    South Central scored in five of seven innings and Ryan Matheny tossed a one-hitter in the Cougars’ 10-4 win on Friday.
    South Central scored two runs in the first inning, single runs in the second and third innings, and added five runs in the fourth to secure the win.
    Ryan McCown was 2-for-3 and DJ Roberts was 2-for-4 with a double for South Central. Aaron Patten drove in three runs for the Cougars.
    Matheny struck out four and walked two in four innings.

  • Bombers top Aces on one-hitter by Philpot

    Nate Philpot tossed a one-hitter in Brownstown/St. Elmo’s 4-1 win over Mulberry Grove on Friday.
    The Aces jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first innings, but the Bombers recorded the win with single runs in the third, fourth, fifth and sixth innings.
    Philpot struck out 13 and walked five batters in giving up just one hit and one run. Bryton Pruett picked up a save for BSE.
    Offensively, Philpot was 2-for-4 with a double and run batted in.

  • We Apologize

    Though the game stats for the Vandalia Vandals game with South Central on April 11 had Kyle Guffey listed as the loser, the loser of record was Garrett Austin, who started the seventh inning in relief.
    Guffey was the starter in that game, allowing three runs on nine hits, striking out two and walking one.

  • Garrett tosses 1-hitter for SC

    Sydnee Garrett hurled a one-hitter as South Central defeated St. Elmo/Brownstown, 4-0, in girls softball action last Friday at Webster Field in Kinmundy.
    The Lady Cougars broke a scoreless tie with two runs in the fifth and added two more in the seventh.
    South Central – Lee-single, run, RBI; Reid-single, RBI; Shumate-2 singles; Johnston-run; Swift-single, run; Geiler-triple run.
    The win improved the Lady Cougars to 3-4 in National Trail play and 6-4 overall.
