  • Sheriff's Arrest Log

    • Wesley T. Langston, 33, homeless, Vandalia, was arrested on Jan. 20 on a charge of criminal trespass to real property. Bond was $1,500.
    • Luis A. Rodriguez, 36, St. Louis, Mo., was arrested on Jan. 20 on a charge of driving without a valid license. Bond was $1,500.
    • Rob R. French, 51, Altamont, was arrested on Jan. 17 on charges of retail theft and theft more than $500. Bond was $8,000.

    ✔ The Greater Fayette County Chamber of Commerce will hold their annual banquet at the Vandalia Country and Golf Club. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. with a welcome and dinner is at 6 p.m., followed by the presentation of Abe Awards to John Hagy and Ernie Myers. Tickets are $25 each and can be purchased at the chamber office, on the second floor of First National Bank's main brach at Fifth and Gallatin streets, or WPMB/WKRV.

    A third community photo in downtown Vandalia is being planned, this one to be a part of the city’s 200th birthday celebration.

    The celebration for Vandalia’s 200th birthday this summer will include concerts, a carnival, a parade, a cemetery walk and a Civil War re-enactment.

  • Matoush scores 30 in Lady Toppers' win over Vandalia

    Hillsboro’s Sammi Matoush scored 30 points and the Lady ‘Toppers prevented any double-digit scorers in a 56-30 win over Vandalia last Wednesday.
    Matoush scored 13 points as Hillsboro jumped out to a 16-7 first quarter lead. The Lady ‘Toppers scored 16 points and held the Lady Vandals to four in the second quarter to lead 32-11 at halftime.
    Bailey Stewart led Vandalia with nine points and Megan Kern had eight.
