    It was incorrectly stated in last week’s Public Record section that Paula D. Miller-Stanley of Vandalia had been arrested on a charge of criminal damage to property. She was arrested on a charge of criminal trespass.

  • Sheriff's Arrest Log

    • Norlena D. Horn, 45, 315 N. Walnut St., St. Elmo, was arrested on July 17 on a charge of possession of a hypodermic needle. Bond was $1,500.
    • Leonard E. Scholes, 52, Mattoon, was arrested on July 17 on charges of methamphetamine possession and possession of a hypodermic needle. No bond information was listed.
    • Dakota P. Carter, 20, 324 E. Main St., Vandalia, was arrested on July 17 on a charge of possession of a controlled substance. No bond information was listed.

  • Recycling checkup

    A Vandalia City Council committee meeting on Monday to receive financial information from the two local entities providing recycling services said it wants more information from one of those entities.
    Aldermen Ken Hubler, chairman of the council’s cemetery and landfill committee, earlier this month set up Monday’s meeting to receive and discuss financials from FAYCO Enterprises and the Fayette County Soil and Water Conservation.
