    • Franklin D. Huddlestun, 29, 212 Bolt Ave., Herrick, was arrested on July 23 for failure to appear in court. Bond was $2,500.
    • Steven R. Ward, 27, 326 W. Ninth St., Ramsey, was arrested on July 23 on charges of aggravated domestic battery and domestic battery. Bond was $7,500.
    • Heather L. Luttrell, 49, 3254 US 51, Ramsey, was arrested on July 23 on a charge of possession of a controlled substance. Bond was $7,500.
    • Dennis W. Miley, 47, 2112 N. 2150, St. Elmo, was arrested on July 21 for failure to appear in court. Bond was $5,000.

    ✔ Evans Public Library in Vandalia is holding a Fantastic Friday at 4 p.m. Children up to age 10 are invited to listen to stories and create rainbow transfer art. Registration is required; to register, call the library, 283-2824.

  • Carson's Lemonade Raid is this Saturday at County Market

    The son of a Vandalia native and grandson of Vandalia residents who has donated close to $100,000 to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital is holding his annual fundraiser in Vandalia this Saturday.
    Carson’s Lemonade Raid will be held from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at County Market on Veterans Avenue in Vandalia.
    Carson LaDage is the son of Vandalia native Todd LaDage and his wife Darla, and the grandson of Bill and Sharon LaDage of Vandalia.

  • Registration information for area school districts

    Registration for area schools have been announced:
    The Brownstown School District is again offering online registration for students in grades K-12 through July 31.
    Parents will still need to attend registration on Aug. 9 to fill out medical information and pay any registration fees.
    By registering online, parents will be able to update their children’s information and save time on registration day.
    To register online, parents log in to their TeacherEase account and follow the link at the top of the page.

  • Registration for fall classes at KC now under way

    Registration for classes at the KC Vandalia Campus for the 2018 fall semester is now in progress.
    The fall semester begins Monday, Aug. 13.
    Taking classes at the education center saves students travel time and reduces gas expenses.
    Some of the student services offered at the center include: placement testing; advising; registration; assistance with financial aid; and free tutoring.

  • Dedication ceremony held for new Golden Years home

    On Sunday, about 60 members, friends and others interested in the new Golden Years Club   building, which is also the new home for the Helping Hands Food Ministry preparation and distribution center, a food pantry sponsored by the Brownstown Ministerial Alliance, gathered for the dedication of the new building.
