• Local instrumentalists invited to join Summer Band

    Vandalia CUSD #203 band director Amanda Moloney is excited to announce the inaugural Vandalia Community Summer Band.  Instrumentalists of any age are welcome and encouraged to participate in this weeklong event.
    The band will rehearse in the Vandalia Junior High School band room from 6-7:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, June 18-21.  The week will conclude with an outdoor performance on Friday, June 22.

  • South Central pre-kindergarten screening set for May 2-3

    South Central Elementary School will hold its yearly kindergarten screening from 3-6 p.m. on Thursday, May 2, and from 8:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. on Friday, May 3.
    Parents who have children in pre-kindergarten will not need to make an appointment; they will be screened during class times.
    To schedule an appointment, call the school, 547-7696, from 7:45 a.m.-3:45 p.m., Monday through Friday.

  • South Central FFA holds annual banquet

    There was a crowd of nearly 100 at the South Central FFA banquet on March 15 in the high school cafeteria.
    “I am very please with the huge crowd for South Central High School. It truly shows how much the community supports our program,” South Central FFA Adviser T.J. Bolin said.

  • ROE's Amber Kidd receives ICEARY Excellence Award

    Amber Kidd, principal for ROE #3 Youth Education Services, was recently named a 2018 ICEARY Excellence in Education Area 3 award winner.

    This award is presented to an individual that creates an environment of relationship, connection and belonging for at-risk youth and families; develops and initiates active learning to help at-risk youth find ways to solve problems, achieve success and become lifelong learners; and works to further service and/or advocacy for at-risk students at the classroom, school, district, regional, state, national or international level.
