    Cake decorating class in Vandalia
    The Kaskaskia College Continuing/Community Education Department will offer a cake decorating course at the Vandalia Campus on Saturday, from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
    The registration number for this class is COED 5439 VA01W.
    Students will learn the basics of cake decorating, as well as how to make icing and the importance of icing consistency.
    Students can expect to learn how to make decorative icing flowers, figure piping and lattice work. The making of novelty and specialty cakes will also be addressed.

    CPR class at Vandalia Campus
    Would you know what to do if one of your co-workers, friends or family members was choking or suddenly collapsed? This could be a life or death situation that requires knowledge and skill to possibly save their life.
    These skills can be learned in just a few hours time with the American Heart Association CPR course. This course is beneficial to babysitters, new parents, teachers, community groups or anyone else who wants to know how to react in a critical situation.

    Taylor Parrish, a 2011 Vandalia Community High School graduate, has been selected as one of Franklin College’s newest Ambassadors.
    The College Ambassadors at Franklin are a group of highly motivated, energetic, well-spoken and friendly students who act as the official representatives of the college to the community.

  • Brownstown class of '62 get-together held

    Members of the Brownstown High School class of 1962 held a spur-of-the-moment get-together last Tuesday at The Hitchin’ Post in Brownstown.

    Class member Deanna Hovious learned via Facebook that a member of the class would be in the area for a few days, and started calling nearby classmates and making plans.
    Classmate Larry Wisley of Ft. Atkinson, Wis., hadn’t been with classmates for 36 years.
