  • KICK classes in July at KC Vandalia Campus

    The Office of Continuing/Community Education at Kaskaskia College has announced the schedule for KICK classes in July at the Vandalia Campus, located at 2310 West Fillmore St. in Vandalia.
    • Beading & Bling – Students will learn to use beads and bling to make jewelry. Students will make bracelets, necklaces and other items to give as gifts or to keep as they create a lasting keepsake. This is a great class for friends to take together. This class will be on Monday, July 9, from 1-3 p.m., and is for students in grades K-8.

  • Fall openings in physical therapist at KC

    Kaskaskia College has openings remaining for the fall 2018 semester for its physical therapist assistant program, according to PTA Program Director Jane Herrmann.
    The application deadline has been extended to June 30.
    The PTA program at Kaskaskia College follows a hybrid curriculum model that requires four semesters of study with a short summer session of clinical work.

  • Vandalia FFA members attend state convention

    Members of the Vandalia FFA chapter attended the 90th annual Illinois State FFA Convention on June 12-14 along with more than 5,000 other FFA members, advisers and guests.

    St. Louis University
    Kyle Bray of St. Peter was among the spring 2018 graduates at St. Louis University in St. Louis, Mo., during commencement exercises on May 19 at Chaifetz Arena on the SLU campus.
    Bray, a 2014 graduate of South Central High School in Farina, graduated cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a major in accounting.

  • Two given Epplin scholarship

    Southeastern Illinois Community Foundation has announced that Saidee Bushur and Hannah Porter have been named recipients of the 2018 Thomas J. Epplin Health Profession Scholarship.
    Bushur is a 2018 graduate of St. Anthony High School. She plans to attend Southern Illinois University Edwardsville to obtain a bachelor of science degree in nursing.
    Porter is a 2018 graduate of Pinckneyville High School. In the fall, she will attend Southeast Missouri State University and major in nursing with plans to obtain a master of science degree in nursing.

    Alexandria Sasse of Vandalia was named to the dean’s list for the spring semester at Maryville University in St. Louis, Mo.
