  • Sen. McCarter speaks to Chamber

    State Sen. Kyle McCarter, R-Lebanon, told the Vandalia Chamber of Commerce at its meeting last week that the state must fix the pension system. He said that a real solution will require all parties to make concessions. The eventual solution, he said, will probably involve a 401k for employees rather than a pension fund.
    He also voiced his support for term limits in the state legislature.

  • Ribbon-Cutting at Little Caesars

    A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held last week at Little Caesars Pizza, which is located at 1611 Veterans Ave. in Vandalia.

    The carry-out store, which opened in July, is operated by Joe and Lisa Wills, center, of Beecher City. The company is known for its $5 14-inch pizzas. The telephone number is 283-2300.

  • New Rotary Club Officers

    The officers of the Vandalia Rotary Club for the 2013-14 year are pictured here.

    They are, from left, Steve Ainscough, president; John Ashdown, vice president; Rodes Hood, secretary; Tom McCarty, treasurer; and the Rev. Roger Grimmett, past president. The new officers took over at the beginning of the fiscal year on July 1.

  • Ribbon-Cutting at DC Auto Sports

    The Vandalia chamber held a ribbon-cutting ceremony last Thursday at DC Auto Sports, a new automotive shop in Vandalia.

    Located at 105 N. Fifth St., the shop does general mechanical repair, suspension work, small engine repair, window tinting, custom accessory work and hydrographics. The owner is Devin Carlisle and the telephone number is 704-4087.
