  • Larry Jay ‘Jay’ Hovious, 62, Indiana

    Larry Jay “Jay” Hovious, 62, of Martinsville, Ind., died on Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2010, at St. Francis Hospital in Mooresville, Ind.

    Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. last Friday at Friendship Park Cemetery in Paragon, Fla. Costin Funeral Home in Martinsville was in charge of arrangements. Memorials: American Cancer Society.

    He was born on Monday, September 27, 1948 in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., to Edith (Walters) Hovious Rose of Martinsville and W. Earl Hovious of Brownstown.

  • Joseph L. Hartley, 68, Vandalia

    Joseph L. Hartley, 68, of Vandalia, and formerly of Utah, died at 8:05 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 9, 2010, at the family residence.

    Per Mr. Hartley’s request, his remains are being cremated, and military rites will be accorded aboard ship during the scattering of his ashes at sea by the commanding officer of the naval vessel; the date cannot be determined at this time.     Jack R. Ault, 83, of Morton, and formerly of Vandalia, died at 12:48 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 11, 2010, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria of a pulmonary embolishm following a short illness.

    Cora Elizabeth Bushert, 82, of Pana, and formerly of Ramsey, died at 9:25 p.m. on Wednesday at Heritage Manor in Pana.

    Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday at Miller Funeral Home in Ramsey, with the Revs. Kent “Pee Wee” Denton and Norris Price officiating. Burial will be in Meyers Cemetery in Herrick. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Memorials: Quad County Home Health and Hospice in Pana.

    Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Miller Funeral Home in Vandalia, with the Rev. John Robinson officiating. Burial will be in Old Loogootee Cemetery in rural St. Peter.     Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday at Fairlawn Cemetery in Vandalia, with Dr. Roger Grimmett officiating.     Ora E. Williams, 88, of Pana, and formerly of Ramsey, died at 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2010, at Prairie Rose Health Care Center in Pana.
    Private graveside services will be held on Friday at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in rural Ramsey. Miller Funeral Home in Ramsey was in charge of arrangements.
    Mrs. Williams was born on Dec. 19, 1921, in Fayette County, the daughter of Jesse Robert and Elizabeth Pearl Beck Hutton. She married Robert A. Williams on Jan. 6, 1944; he died on Nov. 17, 2008.

    Wilbert Herman Dothager, 89, of Mulberry Grove, died at 6:10 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2010, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Chesterfield, Mo.

    Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at First Baptist Church in Mulberry Grove, with Pastor Benjamin Potter officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Taylor Cemetery in rural Vandalia. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Friday at Miller Funeral Home on Friday and one hour before services on Saturday at the church. Memorials: FAYCO Enterprises Inc.

    John W. Lofland, 57, of Vandalia, died on Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2010, at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia, Mo.
    No services will be held at this time. Visitation will beheld from noon-4 p.m. on Saturday at Hohlt & File Funeral Home in Vandalia. Memorials: The family.
    Mr. Lofland was born on June 19, 1953, in Vandalia, the son of Glen Lofland and Ruth Williams Lofland-Neeley.
    He was a driver for Statewide Tire Distributors of Vandalia, and a member of Vandalia Moose Lodge No. 1447, ABATE and the Teamsters’ Union.
