• Evergreen Outreach

    By Sharon Mueller
Mary Crawford, 90 years young, was honored at Evergreen Outreach on Monday with a beautifully decorated birthday cake, provided by her daughter-in-law, Sue Harrison. Mary wore a “spring chicken” apron, and after all had sung “Happy Birthday,” she was given a plastic dancing chick by the leader of the day, Beulah Brown. Beulah then had Mary come forward and tell about her early life, which was very interesting. (It was the days when all children had chores before play!)

Give thanks in everything, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus (1 Thessalonians 5:18).
I have been attending Evergreen Outreach for more than a year now, and each meeting is such a blessing and wonderful experience. Phyllis Rames had a vision when she introduced this program and WOW! What fun we would miss if it ever stops.

  • Evergreen Outreach

A beautiful spring day set the tone for Monday's Evergreen Outreach meeting. Our pianist (Donna Smith) welcomed everyone, and the extra giant jumbo chocolate chip cookies, some with icing, were provided by Phyllis Rames. The Rev. James Fackler (with his joke book) was our leader, and we sang our traditional "Welcome" and "EO" songs.

  • PTSD support group to be started in Vandalia

    By Rev. Carl Rhodes
Attention all combat veterans! It should come as no surprise to you that there are many military veterans within our community suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) – the same disorder many of you experienced after returning from war. As you can attest, if this disorder is left untreated, PTSD can destroy lives – the life of the individual suffering the disorder and the life of anyone close to them.

  • For spiritual health, avoid 'junk food religion'

We all know that a diet rich in junk food is very unhealthy.  We know that such a diet is a leading cause of obesity in our country.
