  • Reunion

    The Atwood reunion was held on Saturday, June 29, at Rogier Park in pavilion.
    After a noon meal, President Jim Atwood started the business meeting by leading the group in the Lord’s Prayer. The minutes from last year’s reunion were read, with no corrections made.
    Two weddings were reported:
    • Keli Atwood, daughter of Crystal Critchloe and granddaughter of Jim and Charlotte Atwood, to Travis Hastings on May 10, 2012.

    OUR PLACE Youth Center, headed by LeAnn Bales, recently celebrated its 10th anniversary.

    Weekend Visitors
    Weekend guests of Dane and Belinda Harpster of St. Peter were: Mahala Harpster of Villa Ridge, Mo.; and Mitch, Gretchen and Owen Harpster of Cape Girardeau, Mo. Other visitors over the weekend were: Ben, Amanda, Madison and Dru Eller of Jackson, Mo.; Rollie and Trieva Henson; and Amy Reiss.
    Bridal Shower
    Andria Urban Cavaletto and Sue Urban hosted a bridal shower for Mahala Harpster on Saturday at Orchard View Winery in Alma.
    Mahala received many nice gifts and enjoyed visiting with approximately 30 women in attendance.

    Sudden Silence Along the North lane
    In the past, when we human inhabitants of the Homestead have sat down along Cora’s Corner, we have been serenaded (or fussed at, if we were mowing) by the little wild birds.
    We have also enjoyed seeing the little birds taking baths in the rain puddles and watching the little wild rabbits sitting in the lane, then scurrying to the sides as we came along.

    Thursday, July 25
    • St. Elmo Home and Community Education will go to Tuscola to the Flesor’s Candy Kitchen. They will leave no later than 9 a.m., because their appointment is 10:30 p.m. They also will eat lunch there.
    • Exxon/Mobil annuitants will eat lunch at noon at the Litchfield Chinese Restaurant.
