    Thank you, FAYCO,  for coming to our meeting. We did miss our Long Term Care, Sweetbriar and Vandalia Rehab friends. We had perfect spring weather for an outing, hope to see you all next week. We were also missing Miles Filer and his sister.

  • ExxonMobil Annuitants Donate to Seniors

    A retired employee of ExxonMobil and his wife arranged to have the company make a donation to the Fayette County Senior Citizens Center.

    The $500 donations through the ExxonMobil Individual Volunteer Involvement Grant Program was possible because Dean and Elloise Black had volunteered more than 20 hours with the seniors service organization.   • FCH Auxiliary seeks new members

    The Fayette County Hospital Auxiliary met April 6 in the hospital conference room. Present were 18 members and a new member, Joyce Maurer.
    Dean Black, auxiliary president opened the meeting in leading the pledge of allegiance and the auxiliary pledge.
    Minutes of the April meeting and the treasurer’s report were read and approved.
    Ricky Gottman was present to give the hospital report, and Susie Crawford of human resources also spoke briefly to the auxiliary.

    … about Callie, the Kitty’s health, she is taking her medications (insulin injections and antibiotic) peacefully and calmly, and seems to be doing well.

  • ExxonMobil Annuitants

    The ExxonMobil Annuitants Club met on April 24 at Ponderosa Steakhouse in Vandalia, with 27 members and seven guests present.
    President Dean Black gave the welcome, followed by the pledge to the flag. Brock Fisher gave the meal blessing.
    After the meal, Black called the meeting to order. The secretary and treasurer’s reports approved as read.
    Birthdays and anniversaries for April were read. Cards were passed around for everyone to sign for members who are ill and others with needs.

    Callie the Kitty, under the Weather
    Calico Gal (AKA Callie) deemed to have an excessive thirst lately and, although she has been eating more than usual, she was not gaining weight. Also, her thirst seemed unquenchable, with the to-be-expected results.
    Recognizing the symptoms as those of a human with diabetes, but not sure if a cat has the same symptoms, a call was made to Dr. B’s clinic, and Callie was on her way to the vet.

    Weekend Visitors
    Mitch Harpster of Cape Girardeau, Mo., and his brother-in-law, Brandon Spitzmiller of Peoria, spent Thursday night at the home of Dane and Belinda Harpster of St. Peter. They attended the NRA show in Indianapolis, Ind., on Friday. They returned on Saturday and went mushroom hunting with Dane.
    They returned to their homes on Sunday.
    Visits Daughter
    Belinda Harpster of St. Peter spent Friday and Saturday nights with her daughter, Mahala Jacquin of Villa Ridge, Mo. They enjoyed shopping in Chesterfield on Saturday.
