    Christmas
The words “Remember the reason for the season” have become familiar the past few years, to remind us that, although other words have been added when thinking about Christmas (gifts, expense, hurry, hurry, hustle, busy times, events, parties, and so on), the most important thought to keep in our minds is “Jesus is the reason for the season!”

    The Critters are Well …
… at this time, so the column will begin with this important …
    Announcement …
… which was in the Brownstown First Christian Church news. I feel this should be shared by all of the village community, so I moved it from their announcements to the beginning of the column. I feel the church will not mind the liberty taken to share this with all in the spirit of Christmas and in honor of our Savior’s birth – the reason for the season.

Our Creator has again decorated our little corner of the world and surroundings with beautiful, subtle hues, and brilliant and bright colors to see, and provided crisp, clean country air for us to breath, the scent of wood smoke coming from fireplaces, our neighbors’ stoves and, if we are lucky, campfires (my favorite).

    The Longhorn Cow-girls …
… are enjoying the new spurt of green grass since the recent rains.
Friend Josh brought some new bales of hay to them, so they are being well fed, what with Josh’s good hay and our caring Creator’s contribution of rain and sunshine that makes the pasture grass grow.
Lady, the little mini-mare, might be gaining a little, but she needs to gain a lot.
