    Visit Lake of the Ozarks
    Nathan, Mahala and Harper Jacquin spent the weekend at the Jacquin Family lake house at Lake of the Ozarks.
    Registration is under way for Vacation Bible School at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. The VBS will be held July 25-29, from 6-8 p.m. Forms may be picked up in the church narthex.

    Worship attendance on Sunday morning was 142.
    The organist was Rita Yagow.
    Acolyte was Jacob Hawkey.

    Believe It or Not
    We can hardly believe it, but it sounds like Tarzan, the little tree frog, and it looks like Tarzan, and we don’t really think it is him. But the past few days, a little green tree frog has taken up residence on our back porch. He hides in the daytime behind my lawn chair, but sometimes we catch a glimpse of him. One day, there were two of the little creatures on our porch.

    Tony and Julie (Roberts) Farthing of Farina were blessed with a son on Thursday, June 9. He weighed 8 pounds, 9 ounces, and was 21 inches long. Bryant John was welcomed by his brother, Evan. Grandparents are John and Sue Roberts.  
    Lifelong St. Peter resident Melvin Graumenz died on June 14. The funeral was held at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church on Saturday.

    The descendants of John Frank and Pearl (Leininger) Libell and his sister, Lela Ellen (Libell) Linton, met on June 5 at Vandalia City Park.
    Thirty-four people attended, enjoying food, family and visiting.

  • Exxon/Mobil Annuitants

    The ExxonMobil Annuitants Club was invited to Mike and Laura Mulhern’s home on Lake Yaeger in Litchfield for a picnic lunch and a tour of Lake Yaeger on pontoon boats on Thursday, May 26, with 20 members and three guests attending.
    After everyone arrived and the food was ready, Dean Black asked for a moment of silence for Marty Gorman, a member who died recently. He always enjoyed coming to the meetings when he was able.
    Black then gave the meal prayer. Club members enjoyed hamburgers and hot dogs, and all of the trimmings.

    Farewell to Little Josie
    As we have shared with our readers, the health of our little dog, Josie, has been deteriorating for some time. She was 16years old on Mother’s Day.
    Josie was special in that she was so tiny when she was born. She was half the size of her three siblings and she was not breathing, nor was her heart beating when she was born.   
    Bill gently thumped her heart, then massaged it with one finger until she started breathing.
    She had been healthy, affectionate, happy and playful until the signs of age began showing.
