Wedding

Sara Evans and Travis Portz, both of St. Elmo, were united in marriage in a 3 p.m. ceremony on Saturday, June 11, 2011, at First Baptist Church in Brownstown, with the Revs. Olen Evans and Rob Gallion officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Olen and Deb Evans of Brownstown.
The groom is the son of David and Karen Portz of St. Elmo.
The bride chose Melissa Deal of Brownstown, friend of the bride, as her matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Joylynn Strobel, Danielle Langston and Laura Bynum, all friends of the bride, and Heather Portz, sister of the groom.
Flower girls were Madalyn Blankenship and Anika Webber. Ring bearers were Matthew Deal and Corrigan Blankenship.
The groom chose B.J. Deal of Brownstown, cousin of the groom, as the best man. Groomsmen were Tyler Blankenship, cousin of the groom, and Bruce Dush, Pierce Strobel and Tyler Roe, all friends of the groom.
Ushers were Christopher Webber, brother of the bride; Kristopher Blankenship, cousin of the groom; and Eric Tompkins, friend of the groom.
A reception was held at the Knights of Columbus in Effingham.
The couple took a honeymoon trip to San Francisco, Calif.
The bride is currently employed at Dr. Brian Dossett’s Office in Vandalia, and the groom is currently employed at Windsor Elementary School in Windsor.  
The couple resides in St. Elmo.
