Tuesday, Dec. 12
• An officer responded at 1:10 a.m. to a burglar alarm at Wendy’s Restaurant on Veterans Avenue. An officer found an opened door and checked the building prior to the arrival of a keyholder.
• During a parole check, Jessica R. Thomas, 23, of Vandalia, was arrested at 8:24 a.m. on charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
• An officer took a report at 8:36 a.m. of a burglary at Jefferson Primary School.
• An officer responded at 11:14 a.m. to Fifth and Taylor streets for a report a two-vehicle accident. According to the report, a vehicle driven by Cory M. Braun, 35, of Brownstown, hit another vehicle while backing.
• An officer handled a complaint of phone harassment at 4:11 p.m.
• An officer handled a report of damage to a vehicle on the high school parking lot at 4:37 p.m.
• Officers responded at 11:13 p.m. to the 1100 block of West Edwards Street for a report of a person who had been outside for a couple of hours. Officers found the person, who told police he was using the WiFi of a friend.
• Hunter W. Haas, 26, of Ramsey, was arrested at 11:45 p.m. for allegedly violating the Sex Offender Registration Act.
• Officers handled five calls for citizen/motorist assist.
Wednesday, Dec. 13
• A 16-year-old Greenville resident was arrested at 10:26 a.m. on a charge of possession of cannabis.
Friday, Dec. 15
• Officers responded at 2:49 a.m. to the 500 block of South Sixth Street for a report of a domestic dispute. The situation was resolved.
• Officers responded at 4:43 a.m. to the 1500 block of North Seventh Street for a report of a possible burglary in process. No one was at the residence in question and the residence was secure. Officers determined that the report was unfounded.
• An officer responded at 12:07 p.m. to Fayette County Hospital for a report of a disorderly individual. The situation was resolved.
• An officer responded at 12:10 p.m. to the Mach 1 station on Veterans Avenue for a report of theft of service. The person returned to the station a short time later to pay for fuel.
• An officer took a report of deceptive practices at 5:09 p.m.
• An officer responded to the 1500 block of North Eighth Street at 5:54 p.m. for a report of a possible case of driving under the influence of alcohol. Sara J. Rhodes, 26, of St. Elmo, was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence of alcohol.
• A juvenile was arrested on a Fayette County warrant at 8:13 p.m.
• A juvenile was arrested on a Fayette County warrant at 8:19 p.m.
• An officer took a report at 10:52 p.m. of harassment via social media.
• Officers responded to six calls for citizen/motorist assist.
Saturday, Dec. 16
• Police responded at 12:05 a.m. to a report of a two-vehicle accident on the lot of Fast Stop Truck Stop on U.S. Route 40. No injuries were reported, and Danny O. Dobbs, 50, of Mississippi, and Latonya D. Heard, 47, of Alabama, were cited for false report.
• Police arrested Rebecca A. D’Angelo, 33, of Vandalia, on a Fayette County warrant.
• Police responded at 3 a.m. to a burglar alarm at the VFW Home on West St. Louis Avenue. An officer determined the building to be secure.
• Police received a report at 4:58 a.m. of a disorderly person in the 1500 block of North Seventh Street. An officer found the person, who was sent home without further incident.
• An officer took a report at 8:36 a.m. of theft of service from Kelly’s Towing on Gallatin Street.
• An officer took a report at 3:44 p.m. of theft of a vehicle from the parking lot of Cages. The vehicle was found about an hour later and returned to the owner.
• An officer received a complaint at 5:40 p.m. of a child custody issue.
• An officer took a report at 6:13 p.m. of attempted burglary in the 100 block of West Taylor Street.
• Officers responded to 16 calls for citizen/motorist assist.
Sunday, Dec. 17
• Officers responded to the 2300 block of West Randolph Street at 7:22 a.m. for a report of a one-vehicle accident involving property damage. According to the report, a vehicle driven by Dustin Smith, 24, of Vandalia, left the roadway and struck two mailboxes. Smith was ticketed for improper lane usage. No injuries were reported.
• Officers arrested David Ivey, 36, and Jamie Taylor, 28, both of Vandalia, at 6:47 p.m. on a charge of trespassing.
Monday, Dec. 18
• Margaret Bolyard, 53, of Mt. Vernon, was arrested at 2:40 a.m. on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug equipment.
• Robert Matthews, 30, of Vandalia, was arrested at 7:47 a.m. on a Fayette County warrant for failure to appear in court.
Thursday, Dec. 21
• Police arrested Wesley Langston, 32, of Vandalia, at 3:39 a.m. on charges of trespass to real property and possession of drug paraphernalia.
• An officer took a report of phone harassment at 7:46 a.m.
• An officer took a report of phone harassment at 10:13 a.m.
• Police responded at 1:17 p.m. to the area of First and Jefferson streets for a report of a four-wheeler in the roadway. An officer patrolled the area and was unable to locate the ATV.
• Police received a report at 3:09 p.m. of retail theft at Walmart.
• Police received a report at 7:14 p.m. of two juvenile runaways last seen in the 300 block of North Sixth Street. About an hour later, a Fayette County Sheriff’s deputy found the juveniles in the Ramsey area and returned them to their parents.
• Police received a report at 8:20 p.m. of criminal damage to property in the 1200 block of West Jefferson Street.
• Officers responded to five calls for citizen/motorist assist.
Friday, Dec. 22
• Officers responded to the intersection of Third and Gallatin streets for a minor one-vehicle accident involving property damage. According to the police report, a semi tractor-trailer driven by Montana Lease, 24, of Pekin, Ind., turned the vehicle too wide, causing the vehicle to hit and damage a pedestrian crosswalk signal.
• Mary Eisenbarth, 63, of Vandalia, was arrested at 11:21 p.m. on a charge of driving under the influence of alcohol and issued a citation for improper lane usage.
Saturday, Dec. 23
• Officers responded to the intersection of Sunset Drive and Veterans Avenue for a report of a two-vehicle accident.
According to the police report, a vehicle driven by Shelly Higgns, 48, of Shobonier, struck the rear of a vehicle driven by Shirley Forbis, 71, of Vandalia. No injuries were reported. Higgins was issued a citation for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
• Officers responded at 1:17 p.m. to a report of a fight in the 100 block of East Jefferson Street. Police arrested William Greenwood, 43, of Vandalia, on charges of aggravated battery, disorderly conduct, possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting a peace officer.
• Police arrested Cameron Sarchet, 20, of Vandalia, was arrested at 11:33 p.m. on charges of driving under the influence of drugs and possession of cannabis and for an alleged probation violation.
Sunday, Dec. 24
• Officer took a report at 4:05 p.m. of retail theft in the 200 block of Mattes Avenue. The matter is still under investigation.
