Miller at state
Kyle Miller competed in the IHSA Boys State Bowling Tournament on Friday, but failed to advance to the state finals on Saturday.
In the first round on Friday, Miller tolled games of 194, 161 and 226 for a 581 series.
In round 2, Miller game games of 168, 172 and 194 for a 534 series.
His six-game total was 1,115, with an average of 185.8.
Ethan Pash of Machesney Park (Harlem) won the individual title with 2,811 pins in 12 games for an average of 234.3.

SEB cheer squad
The St. Elmo/Brownstown cheer squad competed at the ISHA Cheer Sectional on Saturday at Carterville.
In the Small Team-2 competition, St. Elmo/Brownstown had a score of 74.57, placing eight. Five teams in that division advanced to state.
Greenville advanced to the state finals by tying Carterville for first place in the Small Team-1 division with a score of 85.80.

Girls regionals
The postseason for high school girls basketball teams begins next Monday.
On Monday, Vandalia, seeded No. 10 in the Gillespie Sub-Sectional, faces No. 8 seed Staunton at 6 p.m.
The winner of that game will face No. 1 seed Breese Mater Dei at 6 p.m. on Tuesday.
In Class 1A, South Central, the No. 7 seed at North Clay, faces No. 10 Palestine at 6 p.m.
The winner of that contest advances to face the No. 2 seed, Brownstown/St. Elmo, at 6 p.m. on Tuesday.
Ramsey, seeded No. 12 in the Effingham St. Anthony Regional, meets up with No. 6 Dieterich at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. The winner faces No. 4 seed Effingham St. Anthony at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
