Shop local … and document

If you go outside Vandalia to purchase items not available locally, what were those items and where did you go to buy them.
Those are the questions that the Vandalia Director of Economic Development Director Amber Daulbaugh and Greater Fayette County Chamber of Commerce would like to answer in the next couple of months.
On Monday, Daulbaugh unveiled at the city council meeting the Shop Local Challenge, through which local residents are being asked to fill out the Shop Local Challenge form like the one on Page 2 of today's issue (and also available at city hall and on the Shop Local Challenge page on Facebook.
In addition to encourage residents to shop locally, Daulbaugh and the chamber want residents to help them "identify, recruit and secure potential businesses to enhance the community's quality of life."
It's a chance for local residents to tell what they would like to buy locally that they currently go out of town to purchase.
And those who participate will be eligible to win gift cards from local businesses.
Add just a few minutes to your shopping ventures to participate in the project.
