Warriors now 4-1 in EIC play
Patoka’s baseball team has positioned itself well for the Egyptian-Illini Conference Tournament by winning another conference game on Tuesday, beating Beecher City, 6-1.

Senior Jake Orrell (1-0) earned the win, and Clinton Hood pitched the final 2 2/3 innings to secure the win. They allowed just three hits in the game.

Orrell helped his own cause, with a 2-for-4 day at the plate, including a triple and two RBI for Patoka (9-2, 4-1 EIC). Senior Quinn Wadkins and junior Johnnie Clift each added two hits, and John Houston had a double.

St. Elmo falls to rival in NTC action
Four extra-base hits for Altamont gave the Indians a 10-1 National Trail Conference win at St. Elmo on Tuesday.

The Eagles (5-4, 2-3 NTC) got two hits from Nick Bauer and an RBI from Dalton Parks, but a six-run sixth inning for Altamont was too much to overcome.

Patoka wins another conference game
The Warriors went to 3-1 in the Egyptian-Illini Conference after an 8-1 victory against Brownstown on Monday.

Senior Quinn Wadkins struck out 12 in earning his second win of the year for the Warriors (8-2, 3-1 EIC), and he added two hits and three runs on offense. Juniors Clinton Hood and Johnnie Clift each had two hits.

The Bombers (4-6) had just three hits in the loss – one each for Austin Hunter, Jeff Taylor and Jacob Behrends, who also took the loss from the mound.

Lady Cougars slide by Altamont in NTC action
South Central earned a narrow win at Altamont on Monday, beating the Lady Indians, 22-25, 25-17, 27-25, in National Trail Conference action.

The Lady Cougars (6-2, 2-1 NTC)  were led by seniors Lincoln Brasel and Kallie Garrett, who each had eight kills.

Maria Brasel added 12 assists, and Lexi Schafer had two aces.

Lady Eagles win EIC game
St. Elmo had 10 aces and 16 kills as a team in defeating Ramsey, 25-10, 25-14, on Monday for its first Egyptian-Illini Conference victory of the season.

The Lady Eagles (7-3, 1-1 EIC) got five aces from senior Heather Seibert and five kills from senior Perry Manley, who also had 10 assists. Senior Megan maxey added two solo blocks.

The Eagles only scored twice, but it was good enough to beat Noble, 2-1, on Monday.

Dalton Parks (1-1) picked up the win for St. Elmo (5-3), tossing 6 1/3 innings and striking out five.

He was 1-for-1, with an RBI, at the plate. Levi Maxey doubled and Malachi Maxey drove in St. Elmo’s other run.

Late rally leads T-Town by South Central
Teutopolis scored eight times in the final three innings on Monday to rally and beat South Central, 10-4.

Senior Dan Diss suffered his first loss of the season for the Cougars (9-2), allowing 10 runs in 5 1/3 innings pitched.

Noah Powless paced the offense, going 2-for-3, with an RBI. Diss added two RBI on one hit, and Heath Hoffmann also drove home a run.

Bobby Wenthe homered for T-Town.

Ramsey allowed 10 runs (three earned) in the first two innings of a 14-8 loss to St. Anthony on Monday.

Ryan Black had three hits for the Rams, and Tylor Knisley and Tyler Pryor each drove home two runs.

Lady Warriors fall in close match
Patoka’s volleyball team lost a hard-fought 21-25, 25-21, 23-25, match to Sandoval on Monday.

The Warriors are 3-2 on the season.

Lady Bombers set season-highs in win
Brownstown players set season-highs in several stat categories while beating Mulberry Grove last Friday, 25-12, 25-14.

Tara Johnson and Courtney Howard each had seven kills, and Bethany Oberlink and Dani Austin each had four aces, both totals being the most for any player in a match this season.

Michaela Walk had a season-high nine assists during the Egyptian-Illini Conference match for the Lady Bombers (2-4, 2-1 EIC).

Big hits lead Brownstown to conference win
Two extra-base hits helped the Bombers get an Egyptian-Illini Conference win at Beecher City last Friday, with Brownstown taking a rain-shortened, 3-2, victory.

Beecher City scored twice in the first inning to take a 2-1 lead after senior Colten Hunter doubled home Shane Sefton in the top of the frame for the Bombers (4-5).

Hunter stole home during a double-steal in the third to tie the game, and Sefton tripled and scored on a sacrifice fly from Calvin Boggs in the fifth.

The game ended after two outs were recorded in the top of the sixth inning.

St. Elmo/Stew-Stras suspended in seventh
St. Elmo had a game suspended for the second Friday in a row last week, with rain halting a game with Stew-Stras in the seventh inning.

The teams were tied at 0-0, and a completion date was set for next Monday.

One week prior to that game, St. Elmo and Brownstown were suspended in the sixth inning tied at 6-6. That game was finished on Wednesday.

Chapman returns in Lady Cougar victory
Senior Natalie Chapman returned to South Central’s lineup last Thursday after a bout with illness, and led the team in assists and added two kills during a 25-11, 25-12 win against Clay City.

Chapman was one of two setters for last season’s sectional champion team, and this season, will be one of several capable setters for the Lady Cougars (5-2).

She had six assists against Clay City, while senior Taylor Keen added five and sophomore Maria Brasel had four.

Senior Lincoln Brasel led the team with four service aces, and senior Kallie Garrett paced the attack, with eight kills.

Cougar baseball team continues hot start
South Central got its ninth win of the season last Thursday, allowing just one hit to Odin in a 5-0 victory.

Kyle Bray (3-0) picked up the win, striking out seven and allowing no hits or walks through the first four innings.

Shawn Meyer and Noah Powless combined to finish the game for the Cougars (9-1), striking out another seven, with Meyer allowing a hit and a walk.

Senior Heath Hoffmann was 2-for-3, with a double and three RBI, to lead the offense, and Dylan Smith and Bray each had two hits.

Ramsey falls to Beecher City in EIC game
Tylor Knisley had two hits, but the Rams had a hard time finding offense against Beecher City last Thursday, falling to their Egyptian-Illini Conference rival, 5-1.

Knisley singled in the first and second innings, scoring in the first on an RBI single from Tristan Wesselman, but Ramsey would have just four hits in the final six innings.

Brownstown nearly picked up its first National Trail Conference victory against Cowden-Herrick last Thursday, but came up short in the 24-26, 22-25 loss.

Tara Johnson and Bethany Oberlink each had four kills to pace Brownstown’s attack, and Brittany Kistler added three service aces for the Lady Bombers (1-4, 1-1 EIC, 0-3 NTC).

Boggs has big day, but Bombers fall
Calvin Boggs was 4-for-4, with three extra-base hits, but it wasn’t enough to push Brownstown past Sandoval last Thursday in an 11-7 loss.

Boggs had an RBI triple in the first, a double in the third, an RBI single in the fourth and another double in the sixth. He drove in three runs and scored twice.

Austin Hunter, Dustin Lawson and Jacob Behrends each also had a double in the game.

Senior Megan Maxey led the attack, with five kills, and senior Katie Stites was the best at the service line, dropping four aces for the Lady Eagles (6-3).

Jr. Lady Eagles end season at regionals
The St. Elmo Jr. High softball team concluded its season last Wednesday with an 11-7 loss to Beecher City in the first round of the regional tournament.

Makenzie Parkison had a 3-for-4 day, and Morgan brown had four RBI on a triple and a double to pace St. Elmo’s offense, but Beecher City three times scored three runs in an inning to help take the win.

St. Elmo finishes its season with a 5-11 record, including a 1-3 mark in Jr. National Trail Conference play.
