New truck driver training sessions at KC are set

Kaskaskia College has announced that new sessions of courses in the truck driver training session are scheduled to begin Aug. 19 and Sept. 16 in Centralia.
KC has a 100-percent employment rate for those who complete the program, which is is a certificate program designed for an individual with no commercial driving experience.
It includes commercial driver’s license learner’s permit preparation, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, Department of Transportation rules and regulations, log books, map reading, trip planning, routine vehicle maintenance, load securement and other information as necessary to prepare individuals for the Illinois Secretary of State-administered Class A road test and an entry-level position in the trucking industry.
Program Director Dean Daum said, “At this time, there is a great demand for qualified drivers in the transportation industry.
"Recent KC graduates are being employed in a variety of positions including local, long-haul and even highway maintainer positions with IDOT.”
