Medical Services Unlimited certified as rural health clinic

-A A +A

Medical Services Unlimited is certified as a rural health clinic by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid.
This certification is granted to qualified clinics who serve the public in medically underserved regions such as Fayette County. Medical Services Unlimited met all of the qualifications during an on-site visit by an accrediting agency on April 12.
Medical Services Unlimited is owned by Dr. Penny Attaway, family nurse practitioner. This is the third Rural Health Clinic that She has owned in Southern Illinois; the other two clinics were located in Wayne City and Fairfield.
Attaway is a PPO provider for Blue Cross and Blue Shield, and many other insurances.
Attaway has been a family nurse practitioner since 1984 and has treated thousands of patients, from babies to the elderly.
She works under a collaborative agreement with Dr. Kenneth Selke, internal medicine and cardiologist. Labs and EKGs are performed at the clinic, which is located at 1404 N. Fifth St. in Vandalia.
The clinic is open from 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Monday through Friday, and appointments are not necessary.
DOT physicals for commercial drivers can be performed by Attaway, who recently passed the certifying examination by the National Registry. School and sports physicals are also being performed.
In addition to treating most illnesses, Attaway is able to suture simple wounds, administer tetanus shots and perform TB skin tests. Appointments are also accepted by calling 283-2000.
