Between the activities planned by Vandalia Community High School, the Vandalia Community Schools Foundation and the Vandalia Main Street Program, local residents will have a lot of ways to enjoy the weekend.
The high school is in the midst of its homecoming week celebration, which includes the homecoming parade at 2:30 p.m. and the homecoming football game at 7 p.m. on Friday. The homecoming parade will follow its traditional route in making its way downtown.
Prior to the football game, the Vandalia Community Schools Foundation will hold a tailgate, and at halftime of the football game, the VCHS homecoming king and queen will be crowned. The homecoming dance will be held in the VCHS gym after the game.
On Saturday, the VCSF will offer an alumni golf outing at Vandalia Country & Golf Club, with 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. tee times available. At 10 a.m., the foundation will host tours of the high school for VCHS alumni, and that evening, it will hold the annual Alumni Banquet and Dance. Details are on page 6B of this issue.
Saturday also features Main Street’s annual Corn Day festival in Vandalia’s downtown business district.
The Corn Day festival again features all types of games and activities for children, as well as live music in the afternoon and a number of food and craft vendors.
Many individuals have put several hours into planning the homecoming and Corn Day activities. All that’s left to make these activities a success is the participation of local residents.
