Auxiliary News
The St. Peter American Legion Auxiliary Unit #380 met at the Legion home at 7:30 p.m. on May 17, with 15 members present.
President Patti Taylor called the meeting to order and proceeded with the opening rituals. The minutes of the previous meeting were read by the secretary, and also the treasurer’s report, since the Treasurer Arlene Lee was not present due to illness. Both reports were approved. A note from Lee was also read.
The Auxiliary will not have  a rummage sale this spring, as had been previously announced. In new business, they will donate to the American Cancer Society for Relay for Life. If they have a Memorial Day Service at the city park this year, the Auxiliary will serve the refreshments.
Birthdays for May were Liz Carson, Lucille Scheer and Mary Harpster. Happy Birthday was sang to Harpster, as she was present. The meeting adjourned and refreshments were served by Gert Garrett and Beaty Grandt.
Birthday Celebration
Dane and Belinda Harpster of St. Peter attended the 16th birthday celebration of Braden Will of St. Peter on Sunday afternoon.
Those attending were Braden’s parents, Leland and Amy Reiss; his grandmother, Rita Siemer; his aunt, Jennifer Siemer of Teutopolis; Judy Schnarre of St. Peter; Jilla and Vance Young of Sullivan; and Kathy Grandt of St. Peter.
Attend Grandparent’s Day
Larry and Sue Urban of St. Peter left on Thursday to travel to Ft. Wayne, Ind.
On Friday, they attended Grandparents Day at Suburban Bethlehem Lutheran School, where grandchildren Tyson and Hayley Urban attend. They were treated to coffee and cookies upon their arrival, and after devotions, headed to the gymnasium, where the K-4th grades presented a musical, “Camp Kiniokia.”
Upon its completion, they were then sent to the classrooms of their respective students and learned the jelly bean game and a new version of fishing with magnets. They were treated to lunch with their grandchildren and then excused for the remainder of the day.
After school, they attended the gymnastics of Hayley and troop. After a quick supper, it was back to school for another presentation of the musical for many parents and grandparents who couldn’t attend in the morning.
They are looking forward to next year, when the youngest Urban, Landon, will be in kindergarten and they can visit three classrooms.
On Saturday, they departed for New Haven, Ind., to watch Tyson compete in a baseball tournament. He is a member of the Wallen Wolfpac traveling baseball team. They attended three games on Saturday and one on Sunday. They had to depart before the championship game.
