Evergreen Outreach

By Karen Redfern
What a gorgeous and fun-filled day at Evergreen Outreach on Monday.
Donna Smith entertained us with a few melodies, such as, “When We All Get To Heaven,” “Tennessee Waltz,” “The Grand Old Flag” and many others.
The Rev. Jim Fackler welcomed all, introduced birthdays and welcomed the Rev. Pete LeDuc. Betty Brown was the only birthday celebrant for the week.
What enjoyment Fackler brings with his sense of humor. He asked if anyone knew the definition of an adult? A person who has stopped growing at both ends but not in the middle. What is a toothache? A pain that drives you to extraction.
He mentioned that the ladies should not forget the rummage sale to get rid of the stuff they don’t need. "And don’t forget to take your husbands," he said.
And last, the Weight Watchers' ad that told participants to "be sure to use the double doors."
LeDuc gave the devotional. He asked how many have felt all alone and that everything was going wrong? The disciples found themselves in this position when going on a boat with Jesus. The waves got higher and higher, the winds became stronger and stronger, and the night grew darker and darker.
This event is found in Mark 6. Jesus told them, “Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Take courage, it is I." And then he calmed the storm. That power is available to us, if we just talk to Jesus and pray to him.
Thanks, Pete, for a wonderful message.
Patty Sprague (Mrs. Pockets) was our entertainment. She taught us sign language for mother, father, brother, sister and family. What a gift of talent Mrs. Pockets showed us.
Thanks, Patty, for a fine job of providing us with smiles and laughter.
A few songs were: “Thank You For Loving Me,” “Dancing With Rainbow Colors” and “Won’t You Come Sing With Me.”
Special thanks to Ann Schwarm for providing cookies. Thanks also to Ruth Ann, Marie, Erna, Louise, Mary and Charlene for their helping hands.
Pinochle was enjoyed, with Rosemond and Mary winning two games against John and Ruth Ann.
Come join us next week, with guests being Judy Varga and Randy Schukar. Beverly Hood will be the leader.
