(More musicians possible)

Current speakers:
3 Time Nobel Peace Prize Nominee Kathy Kelly, Peace Activist from the Voices for Creative Nonviolence. She e-mailed from Kabul, Afghanistan to say I could count her in, which is why this fell together so quickly. Truly amazing are the things she dedicates her life to, and you will not want to miss what she has to say.

Dr. Richard Gilman-Opalsky (Political Science PhD at UIS, author of "Spectacular Capitalism") is a passionate radical with some clear insight in regards to Manning and the art of subversion.

Dr. Gwen Jordan (Associate Legal Studies Professor as UIS; Illinois Innocence Project -http://www.uis.edu/innocenceproject/) has first hand experience with the flaws of our judicial system.

Chris Blankenhorn (co-founder UIS Radical Student Union/Executive Director of the Foundation for a United Front)

Greg Bishop (Midwest Family Broadcasting radio personality/talk show host) can shed some light on the media's abandonment of Manning's plight.

(and more to come)

A mini local art exhibit will take place in the shelter at Douglas Park (this is rented as our rain location), and will feature Jeff Williams, Chanell Bradbury, Brian Hamilton, Jim Leckrone, Zachary Elston, and more! A portion of any art purchased will go to Bradley Manning's defense fund!! (Big thanks to Chanell Bradbury of 3T for her contribution to this effort!)

A FREE event at Douglas Park's Band Shell in Springfield, IL will be hosted in support of Bradley Manning, who is the Army Private who leaked the diplomatic cables to Wikileaks. He has been detained 868 days as of this post, including at least 9 months in solitary confinement. He's been subjected to conditions that the UN Rapporteur on Torture called "cruel and inhumane," and the PRESIDENT, himself, has said he is GUILTY, even though he is still AWAITING TRIAL. They are accusing him of "aiding Al Qaeda," even though in the chat logs with Adrian Lamo (the evidence against him), Bradley was very clear in saying that he wasn't seeking money from other governments or entities because this was about Americans (you and me) knowing the truth about what our governing body is doing.

We willl be accepting donations for Bradley's defense fund.

The information Bradley leaked helped spawn the whole of the Arab Spring, as well as a global resistance to illegal imperialization. These documents revealed illegal activities within our government: from the illegal occupations we're engaged in, to US Tax Dollars going to child sex trafficking (search: Dyncorp and Wikileaks), to some plainly embarrassing details about our government. For his efforts to be honest, he is being treated like a terrorist. To those paying attention to the present, we should start sounding the alarms we were supposed to build from our HISTORY, and this is a critical issue.

Hope to see you there! Please invite anyone and everyone; let's spread this far and wide!!!

"Those who believe that citizens have a right to know what their government is doing should be celebrating the courage and integrity of the people responsible for the Wikileaks exposure. And should be bitterly condemning the shocking treatment of the individual charged with this public service, Bradley Manning. I was very pleased to learn of the event supporting him at Douglas Park's Band Shell in Springfield on October 20th, and hope it is a great success."
