? Evans Public Library in Vandalia will hold a lapsit story time at 6 p.m. The theme is, "Here Comes Peter Cottontail."
? A Relay for Life karaoke contest will be held at 6:30 p.m. in Lincoln Park in the 300 block of West Gallatin Street in Vandalia. Registration begins at 6 p.m. The entry fee is $10, and cash prizes will be awarded. Call 425-3843 or 704-5293 to confirm song availability, or singers may bring their own karaoke CDs. Practice sessions will begin at 6 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday.

? The fifth annual horseshoes tournament held by the Miller Brothers Construction Relay for Life team will be held at 3 p.m. at Eric Miller's residence in Shobonier. The entry fee is $20, and trophies will be given for the first three places. A raffle drawing for various items and a 50/50 drawing will be held, and a food stand will be available. ? A horse show will be held at the Okaw Saddle Club, located northwest of Vandalia at Thrill Hill Road and Lake Wood Drive. The pleasure class begins at 9 a.m., and the speed class begins at 1 p.m.

MEMORIAL DAY
? Brownstown Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9770 will hold its Memorial Day service at 11 a.m. at the Veterans' Memorial Wall in Brownstown Park. Refreshments will be available after the service, and donations for the Central Illinois Honor Flight will be accepted.
? The St. Elmo American Legion Post will hold its Memorial Day program at 1 p.m. at the Veterans' Memorial outside the Phillips Building on U.S. Route 40.
? Crawford-Hale American Legion Post 95 of Vandalia will hold its Memorial Day program at 1:30 p.m. at the Legion Home. The post's Avenue of Flags will be displayed weather permitting. Anyone wishing to help put up the flags is asked to be at the Legion Home at 6 a.m.; breakfast will be served after the flags are put up.
? The ninth annual Walk Across America, sponsored by Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie No. 3901, will be held at 1 p.m. The walk to support this country's troops will begin at the Vandalia Statehouse and end at the American Legion Home.

Wednesday, June 1

? The Vandalia Chamber of Commerce will meet in the Lincoln Room at Ponderosa Steakhouse. A noon luncheon is followed by a business meeting and a program.
? TOPS IL 2020 will meet at 5:45 p.m. in the Fayette County Hospital conference room. Weigh-in is from 5-5:40 p.m.
