Boston University, New York University
Twins Lewis S. Smith and Adam C. Smith of Palatine recently graduated from Boston University and New York University.

The Smiths are great-nephews of James Sachan of Marine and William Sachan of Shobonier.
Lewis Smith graduated cum laude from Boston University with bachelor’s degrees in communication and business administration.
While at Boston University, he worked as a senior student admissions representative in the university’s Admissions Reception Center. He was a scarlet speaker for the center for one year and seven months.
He worked at the center for two years and nine months.
Adam Smith graduated from New York University with a bachelor’s degree in economics.
He was a resident assistant in the school’s Office of Residential Life and Housing Services for almost two years, and was a student worker at the Wasserman Center for Career Development.

University of Illinois
Braden Ehrat graduated from the University of Illinois College of Engineering with a bachelor’s degree in computer science.
The Engineering School’s graduation convocation ceremony was held on May 12 at Assembly Hall, with Pin Fu of 3D Systems the commencement speaker.
Ehrat, the son of Mark and Lisette Ehrat of the Augsburg area, attended Shobonier School and graduated from Vandalia Community High School in 2008.
He now resides in Champaign and is employed by Riverbed Technology at their office in Research Park at the University of Illinois.

University of Illinois
Two local students were named to the dean’s list for the spring semester at the University of Illinois. Named to the list were:
• Jacob N. Denton of St. Elmo, majoring in aerospace engineering.
• Andrew F. Bell of Vandalia, majoring in mechanical engineering.
