City books look good, auditor says

By Rich Bauer, Managing Editor

The city of Vandalia could be increasing its water and sewer rates for the coming year.
If it chooses not to increase the rates this year, the city’s auditor says, it will likely be approving larger increases down the road.
As part of the annual city audit, the Vandalia CPA firm of Timmermann & Co. Ltd. performs an analysis of the city’s water and sewer systems operations.
That analysis includes comparing the number of gallons pumped at the city’s water plan with the number of gallons billed or otherwise accounted for.
