Prom dress sale is this Saturday

The Lutheran Youth Fellowship of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Altamont is sponsoring a prom dress sale this  Saturday from 9-11:30 a.m. in the parish hall, which is located at 203 E. Division St.
Admission is $1 per person.
Dresses can be dropped off on Friday from 4-6 p.m. or on Saturday from 8-9 a.m.

Northside to hold a couples retreat

On this Saturday, Northside Christian Church will host a couples retreat from 9 a.m. until noon. Linda Cope, counselor from First Christian Church in Greenville, will be the speaker.
The retreat is designed for everyone – those who are married, in a relationship or considering marriage. The goal is to encourage and strengthen relationships, no matter how long people have been together, through Biblical concepts, personal testimony and professional advice.
A light lunch (deli-style sandwiches and soup) will be served. There is no cost to attend; however, a love offering will be taken. Please RSVP by contacting the church office by telephone (283-1970) or by email (northsidecc@att.net).

FUMC program on Haiti is March 1

On Thursday, March 1, the First United Methodist Church of Vandalia will be hosting the Rev. Edzaire Paul, director of Methodist schools in Haiti.
He will be telling stories of inspiration and hope in Haiti, which is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere.
The program begins at 6:30 p.m. The church is located at 127 N. Fourth St. in Vandalia.

Mother of Dolors' corned beef dinner

Mother of Dolors Catholic Church will be holding its annual St. Patrick's Day corned beef and cabbage dinner on Sunday, March 11, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the parish center.
The cost is $8 for adults, $4 for children 6 years and up and free for children 5 years and under.
The menu will include corned beef and cabbage, ham, hot dogs, side dishes, desserts and drinks.
There will be a country store and a raffle, with all proceeds going to Right to Life efforts.

Lenten Luncheons start on Wednesday

The Vandalia Ministerial Alliance's annual Lenten Luncheon series begins next Wednesday.
The luncheons are held each Wednesday during Lent, beginning at noon and concluding by 1 p.m. They are held at a different church each week.
This year's theme is "Unity."
Next Wednesday's luncheon will be held at First Christian Church (283-2001). The speaker will be Scott Smith, First Church of God youth pastor.
To help the host church prepare enough food, participants are asked to make reservations at the church hosting the luncheon each week.

Barbecue March 11 at St. Paul's church

The men of St. Paul's Lutheran Church will host a barbecue lunch on Sunday, March 11, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The menu includes homemade barbecued pork, baked potato, green beans, cole slaw, apple sauce, desserts and a beverage. The cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children under 6.
For information, call 349-6291. The church is located seven miles east and one mile south of Shobonier.
