Wild game meal at Brownstown church
Brownstown First Christian Church will host its fourth annual wild game supper on Sunday, Jan. 16, at 5:30 p.m. All participants are encouraged to bring a wild game dish and other food.
Ashley Ellison, a singer and hunter from Missouri, served as the guest speaker at the church's first wild game supper will return this year. A founding member of the gospel group The Chosen Few, Ellison has performed at Silver Dollar City in Branson, Mo., and has been a regular guest on a nationally televised hunting program called "Show Me Outdoor Adventures." He also is co-host of a DVD series called "Hunting His Way," which features hunts around the world and testimonies from Ellison and other hunters.

Communion this Saturday at Immanuel
Immanuel Lutheran Augsburg Church will hold a Communion service this Saturday at 6 p.m. The theme for the service will be "You Are Not Alone."
The church is located on the St. Peter blacktop, four miles east of U.S. Route 51 at the intersection of 900N and 1300E.

March For Life bus reservations sought
Local residents who are interested in going to the national March For Life in Washington, D.C., later this month are asked to call Liz Kremer at 217-342-9677 or 217-273-9677.
Local pro-life supporters will travel in buses to Washington, leaving on Sunday, Jan. 23 and returning on Tuesday, Jan. 25.
The cost of the trip is $150 per person, not including meals.
St. Elmo Christian offers financial series
St. Elmo Christian Church will be offering a 13-week financial video series, Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University, beginning this Sunday.
Sessions will be held from 6-8 p.m. each Sunday at the church. The first session is free. Some scholarships are available for those who need financial assistance to attend all sessions.

Lutheran Ladies to hold chili/soup lunch
The Holy Cross Lutheran Ladies Society/LWML will host its annual chili and soup luncheon on Sunday, Jan. 16. Serving will start at 11 a.m. and go until 1 p.m. or until the soup is gone.
The menu will include homemade chili and chicken noodle soup, barbecue and chicken salad sandwiches, grilled hot dogs, homemade pies and desserts, and a beverage. Take-outs are available. A free-will offering will be taken.
The church is located at Eighth and Fillmore streets in Vandalia.
Women's study on Paul to start Jan. 13
An 11-week video study for women will be held at Brownstown First Christian Church on Thursday evenings at 7 p.m., beginning on Jan. 13.
Led by Beth Moore, the study is titled "The Life and Ministry of Paul." The only cost for the study is to buy a workbook for $18.
