? An American Red Cross blood drive will be held from 2-6 p.m. at the Family YMCA of Fayette County, 710 Rock Island Ave., Vandalia.
? A women's Bible study will be held on Thursdays from Aug. 22-Sept. 26, at 6:30 p.m., at Northside Christian Church, 1845 W. Jackson St. (west of Sunset Drive), Vandalia. It is a DVD Bible study with Kay Arthur, Priscilla Shirer and Beth Moore. All women are invited. For more information, call 283-1970.

Friday, August 23

? The Shoal Creek Chapter of ABATE will hold its Summer Bash on Friday and Saturday at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds in Butler. Friday's schedule include bags and washer tournaments at 5 p.m. and music by Van Waylon Band from 9 p.m.-1 a.m. Admission is $15 for members and $20 for non-members in advance, and $5 additional at the gate; call 533-4428 or 292-8443 for tickets.
? St. Peter Prairie Days get under way with a fish dinner with ribeye and chicken sandwiches at 5 p.m., the start of a sand volleyball tournament at 6 p.m. and "An Evening with Matt Poss" at 8 p.m.
? A food truck will be at Charters Patio from 11-7 p.m., weather permitting.
? Several local generous businesses and individuals are sponsoring a free concert featuring "Imagine That Band" from Decatur, 8-11 p.m. Food trucks will be present that evening. 
? Bingo at the American Legion Home in Vandalia at 7 p.m.
? A Nar-Anon meeting will be held at 7 p.m. at Northside Christian Church, 1845 W. Jackson St., Vandalia.

Saturday, August 24

? The Greater Fayette County Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual Community Appreciation Cookout from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Family YMCA of Fayette County complex, 710 Rock Island Ave., Vandalia. The event will include a number of activities for children as well as booths by local businesses and agencies.
? St. Peter Prairie Days continues with a softball tournament at 8 a.m.; tractor pull at 10 a.m.; lunch at the park at 11 a.m.; parade at 1 p.m.; bags tournament at 3 p.m.; sand volleyball tournament, cedar shingle machine and AirEvac at 3 p.m.; cake walk at 4 p.m; supper from 5-8 p.m.; "God Bless America and national anthem at 6 p.m.; music by "Broseph" at 8:30 p.m.; and Prairie Days raffle drawing at 9:30 p.m.
? The Shoal Creek Chapter of ABATE Summer Bash schedule includes a Blessing of the Bike at 10 a.m., Walk for Rights at 11 a.m., bike rodeo at noon and bike show at 5 p.m. and music by "Backroad Boogie" at 9 p.m.

Monday, August 26

? The Vandalia Lions Club meets at Ponderosa Steakhouse. The meal is at 6 p.m. and club meeting at 6:30 p.m.

Tuesday, August 27

? The Vandalia Rotary Club meets at noon at Ponderosa Steakhouse.
? The Alzheimer's support group at Aperion Care, 221 Cumberland Road in St. Elmo, meets at 6 p.m.

Wednesday, August 28

? A food truck will be at Charters Patio from 11-7 p.m., weather permitting.
? Bingo at the American Legion Home in Vandalia at 7 p.m.
? A Nar-Anon meeting will be held at 7 p.m. at Northside Christian Church, 1845 W. Jackson St., Vandalia.
? The Patoka Fall Festival gets under way with a carnival at 5 p.m. and T&A Bucking Bulls Rodeo at 7 p.m.

Saturday, August 31

? The Patoka Fall Festival continues with a 5K run at 8 a.m. and the annual parade at 11 a.m., with Larry Britt the grand marshal, followed by activities at the park, including a chicken dinner; 3-on-3 basketball tournament at noon; talent show at 1 p.m.; Power Wheels derby for kids; and demolition derby.
? The Patoka Fall Festival car show is from 11 a.m.-2 p.m., with cars going to the city park after the 11 a.m. parade. Vehicles are to be checked in at the Baptist Church parking lot by 10:30 a.m. The entry fee is $10.
