The Vandalia Rehabilitation and Health Care Center Relay  for Life team will hold a Celebration of Life ceremony at 2 p.m. for the dedication of a purple leaf tree in their courtyard "as a lasting reminder that life is to be celebrated every day." The center is located at 1500 W. St. Louis Ave. The public is invited, and refreshments will be served after the ceremony. For more information, call Sue Denning or Michelle Blain at 283-4262.
? CenterPointe Church, located at 1616 Veterans Ave. in Vandalia, is holding free Weekly Fit Club sessions at 6 p.m. every Thursday.

? The Vandalia Band Boosters will hold its second annual Huge Rummage Sale from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Vandalia Moose Lodge. The band boosters are asking for donations, and they may be dropped off between noon and 6 p.m. on Thursday and Friday. For more information or assistance with transporting donations, call Ken Torbeck at NAPA Auto Parts, 283-3053, or Tracie at 283-7062.
? The HCE Honeys Relay for Life team will hold a bake sale to benefit Relay for Life from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Rural King on Veterans Avenue in Vandalia. Anyone wishing to donate baked goods for the bake sale may call Tammy at 699-1701.
? Author Jenny Harrison will hold a book-signing from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Mennonite Country Store on the St. Peter Blacktop. The signing is for "Nice and Cozy," a book about twins that is the first in a series of Allie and Sallie children's books.
? The St. Elmo Business Association is sponsoring performances of the Culpepper and Merriweather Circus at 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. at Deken Park. Advance tickets are $10 for adults and $6 for children, and are available at Fayette County Bank, St. Elmo City Hall or St. Elmo Pet Clinic. Tickets on Saturday are $13 for adults and $7 for children.

? The Vandalia Rotary Club meets at noon at Ponderosa Steakhouse.
? TOPS IL 2020 will meet in the Fayette County Hospital conference room. Weigh-in is from 5-5:30 p.m., with the meeting to follow.
? The Vandalia Park District Board of Trustees will meet in special session at 4 p.m. in the conference room of the Okaw Area Vocational Center to further discuss improvements to the district's swimming pool.
? A Weight Watchers meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Vandalia; weigh-in is at 5 p.m. Visitors are welcome to attend the meeting free of charge.
? The Rainbow Reflections grief support group will meet from 6-7 p.m. in Wesley Hall at First United Methodist Church, 127 N. Fourth St., Vandalia. Those planning to attend the meeting or having questions are asked to call Mary Miller at 292-5366.
  Wednesday, April 23

? SAFE (Sexual Assault and Family Emergicies) will hold its annual charity luncheon from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Vandalia Moose Lodge. The cost is $10 for the meal, which is being catered by Saathoff's Catering. The menu will include shaved smoked ham with homemade cheeses, pulled portk in homemade apple butter barbecue sauce, homemade tuna and chicken salads, homemade salads, vegetable tray, fruit, dessert and drinks.
? The Vandalia Lions Club annual circus will be in the parking lot west of Chuckwagon Restaurant. Performances of the Kelly Miller Brothers Circus are at 4:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. A tent-raising is at about 9 a.m. Advance tickets, $10 for adults and $6 for children, are available at First National Bank and County Market, and online at www.kellymillercircus.com. Tickets at the gate are $15 for adults and $7 for children.
? The Vandalia Eagles Aerie and Auxiliary will meet at 7:30 p.m. at the Vandalia Eagles Club.

? The Fayette County Retired Teachers Association will meet at 10:30 a.m. at Ponderosa Steakhouse in Vandalia. All retired teachers in Fayette County are invited to attend.
? Evans Public Library in Vandalia will host PACK (Pups Assisting Children with Kindness) from 5:30-6:45 p.m. Children of all ages are welcome to read to DarnFar Ranch's specially trained therapy dogs. Registration is required; to register, call the library, 283-2824, or stop by the library.
