Judge talks about role of drugs in murder

By Rich Bauer, Managing Editor

In giving a St. Peter man the maximum penalty for second-degree murder, the judge handing down that sentence said that this case has helped make him aware of how severe methamphetamine use is in Fayette County.
Fayette County Resident Circuit Judge Don Sheafor sentenced Alexander Beccue to 30 years in prison for fatally shooting Joshua K. Smith on Aug. 11, 2017.
He also sentenced Beccue to 10 years in prison for the conviction on the charge of unlawful use or possession of a weapon, with the two sentences to be served concurrently.
