Arlen D. Ballance, 60, Kentucky

Arlen D. Ballance, 60, of Lebanon, Ky., formerly of Vandalia, died on Thursday, Aug. 23, 2012, at Spring View Hospital in Lebanon.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday at Miller Funeral Home in Vandalia, with the Rev. Louis Frick officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Vernon Cemetery in Vernon. Visitation was from 6-8 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials: Vernon Cemetery or Magassi Cemetery. Online condolences may be shared at www.millerfh.net.

Mr. Ballance was born on June 24, 1952, in Centralia, the son of Lyle Leon Sr. and Mary Josephine Lincicum Ballance. He married Anita L. (Meador) Caudle on Sept. 15, 2001, in Leavenworth, Kan.

He was a retired computer program designer, and a member of Lebanon United Methodist Church in Lebanon and Patoka American Legion. He was an Air Force veteran.

He is survived by his wife; children, Mary Alice Ballance-Wiechman and her husband Daniel of O’Fallon, Martin Knecht of Oklahoma; Marla and her husband Patrick Quigley of Kansas; father, of Vandalia; brother, Lyle L. Ballance Jr. and his wife Polly of Moreno Valley, Calif; grandchildren, Dominique, Bacchus, Zachary and Colton; and nephew, Scott Ballance and his wife Darra and son Alexander of Evans, Ga.

He was preceded in death by his mother and a nephew, Adam Ballance.
