Soccer team falls
in final home match
In the final home match of the season, the Vandalia soccer team fell to Greenville, 7-0.
The game on Saturday was a makeup from a rained out game originally scheduled for Sept. 25.
Blake Torbeck had 11 saves in-goal for the Vandals (0-16-1, 0-8 SCC).
Jr. Lady Vandals fall to Pana
The Vandalia Jr. High eighth-grade girls basketball team fell in a low-scoring affair at Pana on Tuesday.
Emma Meyer led Vandalia with five points in the 16-11 loss.
Molly Kern and Jensen Hollinshead each added two, while Bailey Arndt and Sarah Bigelow added a point each for the Jr. Lady Vandals (4-4).
The seventh-grade score and stats were not reported.

The Vandalia Jr. High eighth-grade girls basketball team moved its record to 4-3 with a 28-16 win at Effingham Sacred Heart last Thursday.
Emma Meyer scored 14 points for the Jr. Lady Vandals, and Madison Klanke added a season-high 10.
Molly Kern scored Vandalia’s other four points.
The seventh-grade score and stats were not reported.
Lady Cougars have
battle with Centralia
In the highest scoring set of the season for an area team, South Central was nearly able to force a third set against Centralia in a 20-25, 33-35 loss on Tuesday.
Senior Kallie Garrett had 10 kills for the Lady Cougars (19-7), and senior Kellie Crain and sophomore Maria Brasel each had two aces.

NTC contest
St. Elmo improved its National Trail Conference record last Friday, defeating Dieterich, 25-12, 25-20.
Senior Katie Stites had seven kills to lead the Lady Eagles (19-6, 8-2 NTC) in their final regular-season match of the season.
Megan Maxey, also a senior, added four service aces, and senior Perry Manley had seven assists.

The Lady Cougars suffered just their second National Trail Conference loss of the season last Friday, falling at Windsor, 25-20, 17-25, 22-25.
Senior Kallie Garrett had eight kills for the Lady Cougars (19-6, 7-2 NTC), and senior Taylor Keen and sophomore Maria Brasel each had 10 assists.
Three players had one ace.

close NTC battle
Brownstown nearly pulled off a shocking upset against South Central last Thursday, but the Lady Cougars were able to come away with the National Trail Conference victory.
After winning the first set 30-28, the Lady Bombers (6-14, 1-9 NTC) nearly took the second set, losing 23-25. South Central (19-5, 7-1 NTC) had no trouble finishing the match, taking the third set, 25-13.
Junior Lincoln Brasel and senior Kallie Garrett each had 10 kills for the Lady Cougars, and sophomore Maria Brasel added five service aces. She also had 17 assists.
For Brownstown, Tara Johnson had six kills, while Courtney Howard picked up five blocks. Michaela Walk had 11 assists, and Brittany Kistler had 11 digs.

EIC win of season
The Lady Eagles had little trouble in getting their seventh Egyptian-Illini Conference victory last Thursday, taking down Mulberry Grove, 25-6, 25-4.
Senior Savannah Feezel had 10 kills for St. Elmo (18-6, 7-1 EIC), and senior Megan Maxey added 12 service aces. St. Elmo’s lone EIC loss came to Christ Our Rock Lutheran.
