Area Prep Roundup (Mar. 23)

Vandalia Softball
The Lady Vandals dropped to 0-3 Tuesday night, falling to Effingham, 17-1.
Despite the recent struggles overall, Karlie Bright and Grace Morgan have batted well in the last two games, with Bright going 4-for-5 with two runs scored, while Morgan is 3-for-6 with a double and a run scored.
The Lady Vandals made 10 errors in the game, something head coach Jeremy Curll cites as the main reason for such a lopsided loss, as Vandalia’s starting pitcher allowed just two earned runs out of the 17.
“We simply didn't play well. (We) only gave up 2 earned runs,” Curll said. “We'll get the defense taken care of and we'll be competitive, and our pitching is going to keep getting better and better.”
