Saturday, October 4

eoe’ The village of Patoka will hold its city-wide rummage sales, beginning at 8 a.m. Maps will be available after 1 p.m. on Friday at city hall, FastStop, Patoka Post Office, First National Bank in Patoka and the local caf.

eoe’ Stylists at SmartStyle Family Hair Salon inside Wal-Mart will offer haircuts for $10 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. to benefit breast cancer research. Through Oct. 20, 10 percent of net proceeds of Regis hair-care products will benefit breast cancer research. A raffle for breast cancer awareness purses is also being held.

eoe’ The Farina Fire Department is holding a four-person golf scramble at Colonial Golf Course in Sandoval. Play begins at 11 a.m., and the fee of $50 includes golf, cart, food and drinks.

eoe’ First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) will host a flu shot clinic from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Flu shots are $30, and pneumonia shots are $45. Medicare Part B will be billed. The clinic, operated by VNA, will be located on the main level of the church, with access from the northwest entrance from the north parking lot.

Sunday, October 5

eoe’ The Oconee Fall Festival is in its second of four consecutive Sunday celebrations. Directional signs to the festival, sponsored by Sacred Heart Church, begin on U.S. Route 51. This week’s activities include a car show that begins at 11 a.m.; there is no entry fee, and door prizes will be awarded. The festival includes a pumpkin patch, full lunch stand, hayrides, a barnyard zoo, caramel apples and apple cider.

eoe’ The Mother of Dolors annual chicken dinner and fall festival will be held from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Mother of Dolors Catholic Church Parish Center, 705 W. St. Clair St., Vandalia. The festival will include a raffle and country store. The cost of the meal is $7 for adults (age 12 and over) and $3.50 for children ages 5-11; children under 4 eat free of charge. Carry-outs will be available in the church basement; call 283-0751 to place orders.

Monday, October 6

eoe’ The Fayette County Health Department will hold a flu and pneumonia shot clinic from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Vandalia Moose Lodge. The cost is $35 for flu shots and $50 for pneumonia shots. Appointments are not necessary. The flu shot clinic schedule is available at www.fayettehealthdept.org or by calling 283-1044.

Tuesday, October 7

eoe’ Fayette County Hospital will hold a flu shot clinic from 8 a.m.-noon and from 1-4 p.m. at The Wellness Complex, located behind Wendy’s. The fee of $30 per flu shot will be due at the time of service in the form of cash or check; FCH will also bill for Medicare. For more information, call 283-5542 and ask for Susan.

eoe’ A playgroup for children up through 3 years of age will be held from 10-11 a.m. at Brownstown Elementary School. The playgroup is sponsored by Prevention Initiative/Pre-K of Fayette County. Snacks will be provided.

eoe’ A playgroup for children up through 3 years of age will be held from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Ramsey. The playgroup is sponsored by Prevention Initiative/Pre-K of Fayette County. Snacks will be provided.

eoe’ Bible Blitz will be held from 7-8 p.m. at Parkview Free Methodist Church, which is located at 1507 W. Jefferson St. in Vandalia, for all children age 3 through sixth-grade age. Bible Blitz includes Bible study, music, crafts and games. The church also offers a youth group for junior high- and high school-aged students, as well as an adult Bible Study. All gatherings are open to the public.

eoe’ TOPS IL 2020 will meet at 5:45 p.m. in the Fayette County Hospital conference room. Weigh-in is from 5-5:45 p.m.
