Thursday, September 18

eoe’ The Fayette County Farm Bureau will hold its annual crop survey. The event begins at 8:30 a.m. at the Farm Bureau office on Sunset Drive, with local farmers, bank personnel and representatives of local agri-businesses canvassing the county. The results of the survey will be presented at the Farm Bureau’s Market Outlook, a steak cookout at 6 p.m. at the Farm Bureau building. Tickets for the meal are $5 each and available at the Farm Bureau office. The guest speaker will be Adam Nielson, the Illinois Farm Bureau’s director of issue management.

eoe’ A playgroup for children up through 3 years of age will be held from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at Family YMCA of Fayette County in Vandalia. The playgroup is sponsored by Prevention Initiative/Pre-K of Fayette County. Snacks will be provided.

eoe’ Soroptimist International of Vandalia will meet at noon at Ponderosa Steakhouse.

eoe’ An American Red Cross blood drive will be held from 2-7 p.,m. at the American Legion Home in Ramsey

Saturday, September 20

eoe’ Beecher City’s fall community sale will be held. The sales in the community are set to begin at 8 a.m., and the Beecher City Boy Scouts will hold a garage sale and bake sale at the Tri-County Firehouse, U.S. Route 33 and Charles Street, beginning at 7 a.m. The Beecher City Tri-County Ruritan Club will hold an all-you-can-eat sausage and pancake breakfast at the Kluthe Center in the park from 6:30-10:30 a.m.; the cost is $5 for adults and $3 for children age 12 and under.

eoe’ The seventh annual Kids’ Safe-T Expo will be held from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Kaskaskia College Vandalia Campus on West Fillmore Street. The event, sponsored by the Fayette County Interagency Council and Safe Kids Coalition, will include a duck pond, jumping houses, food, the display of an ambulance and fire truck (with Pluggie), a children’s photo ID stand and car safety seat checks from 10 a.m.-noon.

eoe’ A poker run to benefit Tabitha ‘Tabby’ Vincent of Vandalia, a 4-year-old diagnosed with T cell lymphoma, will begin and end at Cages in Vandalia. Registration at Cages is from 11 a.m.-noon, and the last hand is to be in by 7:30 p.m. The cost is $7 per hand, with $3 for each additional hand. A micro bus will be available for the first 14 to sign up, with the cost being $10 per person.

Sunday, September 21

eoe’ A pulled-pork lunch sponsored by Lehn Racing Stables will be held at the Okaw Saddle Club, located at Thrill Hill Road and Lake View Drive, off of Ill. Route 185 northwest of Vandalia. Serving begins at 11 a.m., and the cost is $5 per plate, with proceeds going to the Illinois Quarter Horse Association.

Monday, September 22

eoe’ The Fayette County Home and Community Education Board will meet at 10 a.m. at the Fayette County Extension Office in Vandalia.

eoe’ A playgroup for children up through 3 years of age will be held from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at First Christian Church in St. Elmo. The playgroup is sponsored by Prevention Initiative/Pre-K of Fayette County. Snacks will be provided.

eoe’ The Vandalia Lions Club will meet at Days Inn. The executive board will meet at 5:15 p.m., and the regular club meeting is at 6 p.m.

eoe’ Road Riders for Jesus will meet at 7 p.m. at Ponderosa Steakhouse in Vandalia.

Tuesday, September 23

eoe’ Sessions of ‘Introduction to Customer Service,’ a course co-sponsored by Kaskaskia College Business & Industry and the Vandalia Chamber of Commerce, will be held at 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the Kaskaskia College Vandalia Campus on West Fillmore Street. The cost is $15 for Chamber members and $20 for non-members. To register, contact Debbie Jones at 545-3408.

eoe’ The Vandalia Rotary Club will meet at noon at Ponderosa Steakhouse.

eoe’ An American Red Cross blood drive sponsored by the Vandalia Rotary Club will be held from noon-6 p.m. at the Vandalia Moose Lodge.

Wednesday, September 24

eoe’ A playgroup for children up through 3 years of age will be held from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Ramsey. The playgroup is sponsored by Prevention Initiative/Pre-K of Fayette County. Snacks will be provided.

eoe’ An American Red Cross blood drive will be held from 2:30-6:30 p.m. at South Central Middle School in Kinmundy.

eoe’ Bible Blitz will be held from 7-8 p.m. at Parkview Free Methodist Church, which is located at 1507 W. Jefferson St. in Vandalia, for all children age 3 through sixth-grade age. Bible Blitz includes Bible study, music, crafts and games. The church also offers a youth group for junior high- and high school-aged students, as well as an adult Bible Study. All gatherings are open to the public.

eoe’ TOPS IL 2020 will meet at 5:45 p.m. in the Fayette County Hospital conference room. Weigh-in is from 5-5:45 p.m.
