DuPlayee creates pregnancy, infancy memorial garden for Eagle Scout project
Christian DuPlayee completed his Eagle Scout requirements by creating a pregnancy and infant loss memorial garden for Lighthouse Pregnancy and Health Services in Vandalia. It is Christian’s hope that this garden will be a place for community members and clients of LPHS to go to pray and reflect as they remember their babies. Christian has created stone flowers for the pregnancy center to write the names of those children lost in memorial to them. Christian has had several family members experience a pregnancy or infant loss and this inspired him to create this garden. He felt it was a need for the community to have a place to go in their time of need. It is his hope that this garden will bring comfort to those who are grieving.
On March 26th, Christian had a Court of Honor to officially become an Eagle Scout. An Eagle Scout must embody personal character that is reflected in his right attitudes toward God and the ideals of scouting, as shown in his cooperation and service to others in church, home, school, and community. The attainment of the Eagle Scout rank is the highest achievement or rank attainable in the scouts program. Only about 2 percent of all scouts are able to reach the level of Eagle Scout. Christian is proud to say that he was able to meet the requirements of such an honorable position. Overall Christian believes scouting has taught him a great deal about life and has influenced his goals for the future.
