Area fireworks displays planned for the Fourth of July weekend

 

Vandalia
The annual Vandalia fireworks will be held on Saturday, July 2, at the Vandalia Lake. The display is set to begin around 9:20 p.m.Other vendors are also planned for the celebration.”The kettle corn people who were at the Grande Levee will be out there sometime late afternoon/early evening. The guy who sells light up toys, etc will also be out there sometime in the evening,” Jerry Schukar said.

Farina
The annual Independence Celebration in Farina will take place on Sunday, July 3, at the village park. Food stands and beer garden is set to open at noon. The parade will step off at 3 p.m., and a children’s play area with inflatables and games begin at 4 p.m. There will also be live music, a cake walk and raffle drawing. Fireworks by J&M Displays begin at 9:30 p.m.

Herrick
The weekend is jam packed with events starting with a flag ceremony on Saturday and ending with fireworks at dusk on Monday, July 4. A parade will also be held at 10 a.m. Monday. Check out the events page on Facebook for a full list of festivities.

Effingham
Enjoy the City of Effingham’s annual Fireworks show on July 4th starting at dusk (around 9 p.m.) at the Effingham High School Sports Complex. Rain date is July 5.

Carlyle
Enjoy a full day of fun on Saturday, July 2, at Carlyle Lake from noon to 9 p.m. There will be live music ending with a Fireworks display shot off from point 1 and can be viewed by boat over Carlyle Lake or on the shore at the Dam West and Dam East Recreation Areas. Other events during the day include Volley Ball Tournaments, Sand Castle Building Contest, vendors, games and more!!! Be sure to check out the 4th of July Dam Jam page for more information. Centralia
The Centralia American Legion hosts its annual July 4th celebration in Fairview Park with activities for all ages. Festivities begin on Friday, July 1, and they include carnival rides and games, various food vendors, a beer garden, car show and pony rides. Make plans on the 4th to witness the annual Veterans Parade at 1 p.m. The route begins at the intersection of West Broadway and South Chestnut and continues on Broadway. Finish the festival with fireworks display at dusk above the park.
