VCHS seniors honored during Academic Signing Day

More than $500,000 in scholarships has been awarded to several Vandalia Community High School graduating seniors. The class of 2022 was recently recognized at Academic Signing Day, where students were honored for their achievements. A number of Vandalia Community High School seniors were recognized recently for receiving academic scholarships.

The annual Academic Signing Day on Wednesday morning celebrated 11 soon-to-be graduates received more than $500,000 in scholarship awards.

Recipients included:

  • Abby Guffy, who was awarded the Provost Scholarship and will be attending Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.
  • Ryan Kaiser, who was awarded the Children of Veterans Scholarship, the Presidential Award Program Scholarship and the Capitol Honors Program Scholarship. Kaiser will be attending University of Illinois at Springfield.
  • Isabella Eller, who received the Presidential Award Program Scholarship and the Capitol Honors Program Scholarship. She will be attending University of Illinois at Springfield.
  • Kurstiana Sachan, who received the Clear Path Scholarship and the Dean’s Scholarship, and she will be studying at McKendree University.
  • Jayce Murray, who was awarded the McAllaster Scholarship and will be studying at Greenville University.
  • Leo Krueger, who was awarded the Redbird Academic Scholarship and the Leona Stanford Vollintine Award. He will be studying at Illinois State University.
  • Elizabeth Barenfanger, who received the Redbird Academic Scholarship and she will be attending Illinois State University.
  • Andrew Myers, who received several academic awards, including: Trustees’ Scholarship, Scholars of Excellence Award, Ministry Dependent Scholarship and the Union TBC/SBC Award. Myers will attend Union University.
  • Ellie Whitten, who received the Board of Trustees Scholarship, which covers tuition and fees for two years at Kaskaskia College.
  • Justin Kulesza, who received the Board of Trustees Scholarship, which covers tuition and fees for two years at Kaskaskia College.
  • Madison Ferguson, who was awarded a Merit-Based Scholarship to attend Lincoln Memorial University
