Norman F. Siebert, 85, of Vandalia, passed away at 7:35 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 14, 2021 at his home.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2021 at Hohlt & File Funeral Home, Vandalia with Rev. Bruce Sasse officiating. Interment will follow at Noffsinger Cemetery, Pleasant Mound with Military Rites accorded at the graveside. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services from 1 to 2 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2021, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Mr. Siebert was born on October 28, 1936 in Mulberry Grove, the son of Carl W. and Opal V. (Eller) Siebert. Norman proudly served his country in the US Army from November 1954-1956. He married Jeana D. Freeman on July 30, 1959; together with this union they celebrated 62 years of marriage and raised three children.

Norman was employed by the United States Postal Service for 32 years; he first began his career at the Granite City Post Office and then transferred to Greenville Post office where he eventually retired. After delivering mail for many years, he began delivering meals on wheels; volunteering for 9 years. He was also quite the handyman, building his and Jeana’s home and helping his son build his.

He is survived by his wife, Jeana Siebert of Vandalia; sons, Michael “Brent” Siebert and Brad Siebert and wife Irene, both of Vandalia; daughter, Brenda and husband Steve Gard of Fort Wayne, IN; sister, Sally and husband Mick Broaddus of Raymond; grandchildren, Trent Gard of Fort Wayne, IN, Taryn and husband Neil Beauchot of Fort Wayne, IN, Niki and husband Bryan Glidden of Vandalia, Jake Hathaway of Kansas City, MO and Dalton Hathaway of Effingham; great-grandchildren, Peyton Glidden, Colby Glidden, and Mayla Beauchot.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Carl, Maurice, Kenny, and Danny Siebert; and sisters, Lucille Show and Linda Merrit.
