LaWanda Davis, 41, of Vandalia, passed away at 3:45 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 26, 2021 at Memorial Medical Center, Springfield.

Per the request of the family, cremation rites will be accorded. A visitation will be held from 4 -6 p.m., Friday, September 3, 2021 at Hohlt & File Funeral Home, Vandalia. Memorials may be made to the family of LaWanda Davis. Online condolences can be expressed at www.hohltandfilefh.com.

LaWanda Louise Davis was born on June 8, 1980 in Houston, TX, the daughter of Leroy Oldham and Janet (McNish) Cox. She married Jeremy Lavon Davis on July 11, 2010; they celebrated 11 years of marriage though they were together for 21 years.

LaWanda was a cashier at Rural King in Vandalia; where she was employed for six years. She loved her job, especially all of the customers. LaWanda loved putting puzzles together, riding four wheelers, and most of all, spending time with her family.

She is survived by her husband Jeremy Davis of Vandalia; daughter, Laura Davis of Vandalia; siblings, David Ivey of Ramsey, Kristy and husband Jimmy Mitchell, Bear McNish and wife Stacy, Michael McNish and wife Amanda, Christopher Cox, and Kaddie Cox; all of the East Alton area; and several other friends, family, and children that she claimed as her own.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
