Melvin C. Lockart, 92, of Fort Myers, FL, formerly of Vandalia, passed away Saturday, May 22, 2021, at The Preserve, in Fort Myers, FL.
Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, June 9, 2021, at South Hill/Fairlawn Cemetery, Vandalia, with Pastor Michael Mohr officiating. Friends and family may gather at the cemetery at 1 p.m.. Military Rites will be given by Crawford-Hale American Legion Post #95 and Brownstown VFW Post #9770. He was born March 10, 1929, in Vandalia, the son of Clarence Emil and Alice Leona (Matheny) Lockart. Married Clara Anna (Schoon) Lockart on December 24, 1950, Vandalia; she passed away March 21, 2007. He was a lease operator – truck driver for Petrolum Transportation; owner/operator Lockart Trucking, Seymour; US Army Veteran – Korean Conflict. and a member of St. Michaels Lutheran Church, Ft. Myers, FL.
He is survived by a son, Kent Lockart and John Royce, Long Beach, CA; daughter, Nancy Huddleston and Charles Preston, Fort Myers, FL; grandchildren – Jennifer Huddleston and Melinda Asselin and Joseph; great-grandchildren, Marissa Spence and Zach and Katherine Morrison; great-great-grandson, Clayton Michael Spence; and nephews and nieces, Art “Butch” Wilson, Diane Eckhart, Phyllis Eckhart and Marsha Eckhart.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; three sisters, Lela Eckhart; Ruth Wilson; and infant, Edith Lockart.
